  My wife and I were quoted $240 via email, yet when we picked the car up, we were told it would be $290. I would understand a $10 change in price; $50 seems excessive (the email does say "Total may vary slightly at time of rental based on the election of prepaid gas, optional coverage items or changes in taxes, surcharges and fees."). We were originally told it was because we were picking up the car 15 minutes before our reservation, which was a) not true and b) silliness. We decided to wait 15 minutes and were still told it would be $290. One of the managers got out her calculator on her phone and showed us that the email mis-quoted as it should be 4 days at $49, which would be 196 instead of what the email said, which was $147 for the base price. I also find it silly that I now need to go back and check National's math. What saved the day is the person who worked with us when we dropped the car off. He got the price to match what we were quoted (actually a bit under), which honestly saved the whole deal and kept our business. I will continue coming back to National for our rentals. I wish all managers were willing and able to honor the prices that are quoted to their customers. I also wish technology worked better.

  National car rental overall was very good. The problem was with their outsourced road side assistance. When you are having a problem with a flat tire, and no spare, the last thing you want is someone half a world away trying to help you get the help you need when they clearly don't understand what you are facing. The road side assistance was lacking at best. In the end, we were able to get things resolved, but not without a great amount of time and frustration. Bring customer service back home to the US and give these agents the power they need to get things done.

  The car we rented was supposed to be a mid sized SUV. It was a Jeep Compass, that was most definitely not midsized. In order to put 2 large suitcases in it along with carry bags, we had to put the back seats down. Also, 2 days after renting it, we got a "attention to oil change" light went on and we had to take it to a local Jiffy Lube to get the oil changed, something that should have been done before we rented the car which we were going to have for 20 days on a traveling vacation. The rental counters were not manned either renting or dropping off and we had to wait on someone to help.

  I have a BMW X5 reservation for October 3, 2026. As I mentioned previously, I understand that your vehicles normally come with all-season tires and that specific winter tires cannot be guaranteed. Since I will be driving through British Columbia and Alberta in October, I would like to confirm what type of tires are currently equipped on the BMW X5 vehicles at your Seattle location. If possible, could you please send me a photo of the tire sidewall showing the tire brand, model, and markings (such as M+S or the 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake / 3PMSF symbol)? I understand that the exact vehicle assigned to me on October 3 may be different. I mainly want to understand what type of tires are currently being used on your BMW X5 fleet. Thank you very much for your help.

  Overly frustrated at specifically ordering a car of a certain class. AWD Durgano was what I clicked on and what was pictured. We were planning on a 10 day road trip through the state, including the North Cascades. What we got was a Hyndai Palisade-no AWD. When we pointed out the difference, we were told that we were lucky to have that vehicle and we would have to wait until a Durango comes back, or take a pick up truck-which would not hold our luggage. As we drive away, we spend about 2 hours troubleshooting the Android Auto/Apple Car Play. Turns out, the only way to connect to the vehicle is to use a USB. Guess what-it only takes a USB - A type. So, off to Best Buy we go to purchase a cable that we don't carry with us. Had moved on at that point. Until, we were driving through the North Cascades-has not had cell signal in about 2 hours, and was also not able to use Satallite messaging because of the mountains, I guess? The engine light came on, and the car was vibrating like crazy. All that we could imagine was waiting by the side of the road for road side assistance to happen upon us. THEN wait to get another rental. Thankfully, we pulled off. Turned the car off. Took a walk. Came back, and it had reset. Business traveler. Loyal to National. Loyalty not returned. I should know better by now.
