I chose to pick up the car at the end of the day. The car was dirty. Caked with dirt on the outside so that if there were scratches I would not have been able to see them. The inside was not vacuumed and had dead grass and dirt in the foot well. The first two times I drove it and turned on the AC, large moths were disturbed and flew around the car. Each time I pulled over and chased a large moth out of the car. The insurance company had arranged the rental. When they settled on payment for my vehicle which was totaled and found to be the other drivers fault, they told me I had 3 days to return the rental by end of the business day. Yet the store called and aggressively repeated this as if they didn't trust me to bring it back and asked multiple times what time I intend to return the car. The caller did not speak in a friendly customer service tone, but in an authoritative tone as if he expected it to be a problem getting the car back. The entire experience was not a good one when I was already dealing with someone having rammed into my car at full acceleration in reverse destroying my own car.
Obviously I didn't pay for this rental and there's nothing you can do for me after the fact, but I'm not likely to ever choose or recommend Enterprise in Pullman. I should note that I am the general manager of a Pullman hotel. Good customer service goes a long way with me.

There are two kinds of customer service. The first is when everything goes right. The second is when something goes wrong and someone decides to care.
A week after returning my rental car, I realized my sunglasses were missing.
At first, I retraced my steps. Maybe they were in my backpack. Maybe they had fallen under a seat somewhere. Maybe I had left them in a hotel room. But the more I thought about it, the more I knew exactly where they were: sitting somewhere inside a rental car that was already thousands of miles away from me.
I called Enterprise expecting the usual answer: “We’ll check lost and found.”
Unfortunately, the sunglasses weren’t there.
That could have been the end of the story.
Instead, Tyler took it personally.
The car had already been rented to someone else, but rather than shrugging and moving on, he tracked down the vehicle, contacted the current renters, and asked them to take a look inside.
Then came the update.
They found them!
Somehow, against the odds, the sunglasses were still in the car.
What began as one of those frustrating little mistakes that you assume will cost you an expensive pair of sunglasses turned into a story of someone going far beyond what was required to help a customer.
The funny thing is that this perfectly matched the rest of my experience. From the moment I picked up the vehicle to the moment I dropped it off, everything was smooth, easy, and professional. The car was great, the process was straightforward, and every interaction with the staff was pleasant.
It’s not the routine parts of an experience that people remember. It’s what happens when something goes wrong.
When I left my sun-glasses behind, Tyler could have followed the script. Instead, he created a different ending.
Five stars for the entire Enterprise team, and a special thank you to tyler for turning what should have been a lost cause into a happy ending.
