Lots of negative experiences, I don't usually review but I thought it was worth others seeing my experience.
Originally had all 4 brake calipers, brake pads, and 2 rotors replaced on a vehicle. When quoted, I received a quote for parts that was close to double what I could get them for locally. I purchased my own parts and made an appointment for installation. They informed me up front that they could only guarantee the work and not the parts, which I agreed to. I was quoted a price for just the work but when the work was done, I showed up to pay and the total was close to $300 higher than the original quote. After speaking to the staff they did lower the price to $100 higher than the original quote but still not what was quoted. I'd made the decision to not use them again after the price discrepancies.
Fast forward a year and my vehicle developed a loud clunking noise. After looking at my wheels I determined the caliper for one of the brakes was only attached on one side and was contacting the wheel balance weights. I made an appointment for inspection and the car was inspected and determined that one of the two bolts holding the caliper was completely gone. This means that either the bolt to the brakes (yikes!) wasn't torqued properly, there wasn't thread lock applied, or both. To their credit, they replaced the bolt and re-balanced the wheel without any fight. Although I now have a caliper with damage to the top and a pad with odd wear patterns from braking while the caliper was half-attached.
There was a lot of service recommended following their inspection to include brake fluid,....which was just replaced/refilled by them 1 year prior with the brake job. As they fixed their issue though, I decided to give them another chance and get a transmission drain/fill as I'd already been looking to do this. I was quoted $250, on the high end for the service but I went ahead and went with it as it was in the range of acceptable. I arrived a few days later to drop the vehicle off and was informed the total would be $350, the 2nd time in two visits that the total was $100-300 more than quoted. When I balked, the total dropped to $305. I almost walked out, but ended up begrudgingly leaving the car. 30 minutes later I got a phone call that the transmission filter also "had to be replaced as required by the manufacturer".......on a 15 year old car. The cost would be another $100 for a total of $400 to do a simple transmission fluid service. For reference, the filter for the transmission is $23, retail price, and is removed with 2 screws when the pan is already off for the fluid change.
I told them to pull the car off the lift and that I'd be in to pick it up in a short bit. Upon arrival, while I was away from work, I was then lectured by the person at the counter about what a good rate the service was and that I should do that and other maintenance with them. After finally getting my key following 5-10 minutes of being unable to just end the conversation, I received my key. I drove down the street to a competing business and got the fluids drained and filled, and the oil changed for $200 less than Midway's final quoted price for only the transmission fluid, with a walk in and no wait.
For reference as well, I typically do my own maintenance and I'm very familiar with the cost of parts and the time needed for service. I thought my visit to them would save me time and trouble but found the exact opposite occurred. Each time I visited I was quoted a price for parts that was nearly double the retail cost, I got a quote for service that rose substantially on arrival and/or following service, and was recommended for more service that was either optional or not yet needed. This was in addition to a critical component not being installed correctly/safely and I'm lucky that the brake coming off didn't lead to an accident.
I'm sure plenty of people have had good experiences at this business but between multiple trips, I wasn't one of them. Very long story short, I won't be going anywhere near them again for the reasons above.
