I don't live in Bellingham but purchased a car at a dealership there and Rising Sun was highly recommended and reviewed so I used them for the pre-purchase inspection and then to do some work afterwards. Since day one of picking the car up from them I've heard gurgling noises like there's air moving through fluid in the lines. I drove all the way back from Bothell and spent the day while they checked the car over and they said they couldn't figure it out, couldn't replicate the noise, said they double checked all the fluid levels and didn't know what the issue was and everything looked great. 6 months later the gurgling noise has been constant, I take it to a local and find that I am both low on oil (dealership did the oil change when I purchased) and over two quarts low on transmission fluid. While it's possible two leaks could have formed over the last 6 months both for the oil and the transmission, that seems unlikely as there's no evidence of leaking in my driveway and the gurgling noises started the day I picked it up from the mechanic. They did not happen when I test drove the car at the dealership. The most logical explanation is that the mechanic under-filled the transmission fluid. Fluid also looks heavily used for the minimal amount of driving I've done for 6 months.. I don't know if that's because it was under-filled or if they didn't actually replace the transmission fluid that I paid for. Great prices and the rest of the work they did seems to be fine (timing belt etc) but I'm lucky I don't have a blown transmission. This issue started the day I picked it up from the mechanic, there was no gurgling noise or issue when I test drove it twice before purchase and part of the service I paid for was to replace the transmission fluid. It's unfortunate because I would have given a five-star review for the other services especially because they were so much more affordable than other places but now... his is a major mistake to make that could have cost me thousands of dollars.

Brought my Subaru in for coding/electrical issues that were most likely being triggered from driving too long a spare tire that was throwing off the computer. Also updated to a new battery. Service both times was prompt with good communication and decent prices with no upsells. Glad I got the recommendation. Thank you RSM!

I literally drive 1.5 hours to get to all my car needs met at Rising Sun. Been a customer for 12 years! Khai is the best. Honest and reasonably priced. I moved, he didn’t, so I come to him because, well, common sense!

Got scheduled here at Rising Sun for an oil change when it was good for me. Price for a synthetic top up and the labor cost was way better than any of usual joints nationwide or hassling you about anything else. Just go here.
