- KBKate BunnellSep 26, 20261.0With each passing day, and it's really only been a week, I'm less and less impressed with the device. The service center that installed it is terrific, thank goodness, but Intoxalock is a disaster. The first unit came with a defective part and had to have that replaced overnight. Of course, that didn't arrive in time. So delay. Then, it all seemed to be fine, got home (45 min away from service station) and the unit had short-circuited or something. My truck was parked in the drive, ignition off and the device was demanding a "retest" every half-hour, honking the horn and beeping away. Had to blow in to shut it up. Couldn't make it stop asking for a retest. All I could think was being up at midnight with this thing going off, and running my battery dead. Had to drive back to the service station (45 minutes, 33miles, each way, recall), FORTUNATELY still open, and they were very nice and tested and checked and finally got it working. It still doesn't work the way it should, huge delays in getting the unit to wake up, but I will continue to let Intoxalock know that and insist upon my rights. And this is besides the whole bait and switch, between the sales and actual dealing with the company, and all the additional fees that no one mentioned up front, and the original lease the company wanted me to sign that had listed 31 months, totally fabricated, when I was told it was month-by-month. I haven't heard anything better about the other companies, and I'm already several hundred dollars in on this deal, so we'll see how this goes, it's really not for very long. I would simply recommend to all: DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! I was lucky, I no one got hurt, no damage done, but it's still costing me a lot of money and the annoyance of dealing with this company.
