My experience with Enterprise Rental car on Merrimack Trail in Williamsburg, VA was TERRIBLE.
My daughter was on vacation in the area and her car was hit from behind and totalled. Fortunately, no major injuries for her, her husband or their 2 daughters. I drove 8 hours the next day to get them, we contacted our insurance company and reservation was made for her to get a rental at the Merrimack Trail location. The directions to the location weren't the best, and they only have one small sign, so we a missed it. My son in law called the location asking for directions, we thought they might have moved to a different place, but we're informed exactly how to get to the store. While on the phone, the customer service representative informed us, rather rudly, that, YES, they had the reservation, but there were about 20 people ahead of us and they didn't have any vehicles. From my place in the driver's seat of my vehicle I spoke up and said,'That's fine, we'll come in and see what we can do.' I may have been a little loud, but I wasn't trying to be rude, just heard from the front seat. The customer service representative got annoyed and said, 'Well there's no reason to, there is nothing we can do.'
I replied, 'I'm still going to come in because and we'll see what we can work out. It doesn't hurt to try.'. And my son in law hung up the phone.
We drive over to the store and I went in, and approached the counter to speak with the young man there. I explained the situation and how I had just spoken with one of their people and been informed that nothing was immediately available. I asked if they could check their website and find a vehicle at another location, call them and swap our reservation to that new location. This seemed like common sense and good customer service to me... But the guy insisted that, yes, they could look, but they couldn't make that store save a vehicle for us.
When I asked, why not? He said, That's not what we do, we can't reserve a vehicle at a different location.
I said,'That's not what I asked for. I want you to find one, call that location and transfer my reservation to them, so I can just go pick it up.' And, YES, my blood pressure was starting to climb.
He replied that that wasn't their job, WE would have to do it!!
I asked them, getting rather irritated with him,'Don't you believe in good customer service? Because this sure as hell isn't it?'
He stated,'THAT'S IT, WE'RE NOT DEALING WITH YOU ANYMORE! YOU WERE RUDE TO OUR REPRESENTATIVE ON THE PHONE AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO DEAL WITH YOU!'
I BLEW UP! I stated to him that he better believe that I was calling Corporate customer relations and going to post the worst review possible on Google and every other place I can find. Then I stormed out while flipping them off.
