    We purchased our first ever Mazda. It was a CX-5. The sales consultant, Rich Beall, was fantastic. He was welcoming, engaged, knowledgeable and at no time did he pressure us. He listened to what we wanted in a vehicle and made great suggestions. The whole process was very easy. We highly recommend doing business with Berglund Mazda and with Rich.

    Update 5/1/26: I am updating my review to increase the rating to 3 stars from 2 because the manager, Chris, contacted me back to discuss my concerns. He indicated that having two hard credit checks is standard for their dealership, one for risk assessment and one for the finance office and did apologize for the lack of communication regarding the multiple credit checks. More importantly, he said that he would ensure better transparency for future customers so they are not caught unaware. *************** We purchased a new Mazda CX30 a few weeks ago. Our overall car-buying experience was acceptable - the staff were reasonably pleasant and we were able to reach a deal we were comfortable with. That said, there were a few issues worth noting. When we took possession of the car, we were told it had been cleaned and detailed. It had not, and I had to schedule a return visit to have dealer stickers and residue properly removed. A minor inconvenience, but still not the experience you'd expect at the finish line of a new car purchase. My more serious concern: I recently discovered that the dealership ran two hard credit inquiries on my account without disclosing that more than one pull would be made. This resulted in a meaningful hit to my credit score. Consumers have the right to know when and how many times their credit will be pulled - that information should be clearly communicated before it happens, not discovered weeks later. I emailed the manager (Chris) who helped handle our purchase requesting an explanation and, if the second inquiry was an error, that they contact the credit bureau to have it removed. I have yet to receive a response. I'm not writing this review out of spite - the car itself is fine and the general experience wasn't terrible. But unauthorized or undisclosed hard credit pulls are a serious matter, and the lack of follow-up is frustrating. I hope the dealership will address this and improve their transparency with future customers.

    I want to revise my review below. The GM reached out and made things right. I also want to clarify that buying the car was a great experience. Mason and Chris were both great to work with during the sales process. Getting the car registered, however, was a nightmare, but I understand they probably don’t do a ton of deals for cars to be registered in SC. At the end of the day, everything was made right and I would purchase from this dealer again. Old review: Nothing but problems purchasing a vehicle out of state. We purchased a new CX-50 almost 3 months ago now with a trade in that we wanted to transfer the tags from. The out of state DMV still has not received any info from Berglund Mazda. The old tags are now inactive in the system because it has been so long. Ultimately, this looks like this is going to cost us $700 to get a new tag rather than transfer the one from the old vehicle that was traded in.

    I highly recommend our Sales Lady, Nikki, who went above and beyond to help get us a good trade on our truck. This was our first experience with Berglund Ford Mazda in Salem although we have bought several trucks from Berglund Chevrolet in Roanoke. Everyone was so nice to work with to make our experience a good one! Thank you Nikki and Greg for all of your help!
