After making an appointment through Progressive/Safelite representative, I tried calling the location of Safelite that the replacement winshield was being done (Hampton Virginia). It was impossible due to AI handling the call, I wanted to ensure the glass was in stock for my appointment the following day. I ended up having to stop at the shop and speak with a desk clerk and she assured me it was there. 8am the next day I dropped my Jeep wrangler off and was told it would be completed by 10:30. I had arranged a ride back to work and planned on picking my vehicle up at noon....should be done...right? Well I got a call around 10:30 saying they looked all over for my glass but didn't have it. But then said he was calling other locations and would have my vehicle completed in the early afternoon that the job was easy to do. I was back at the shop at 5pm and the desk clerk told me they were out driving my jeep to recalibrate the camera. The shop was 98 degrees inside so I went over to a business next door and killed some time till the tech came back. Went back over to the shop and another clerk approached me and told me she was calling the tech back in because if after over 2 hours of driving around he couldn't calibrate it they would probably have to change out the glass to OEM. So I rescheduled for a week later at my home so I wouldn't have to make arrangements otherwise. So I got a confirmation he'll be here tomorrow, and that I'll have to make arrangements for him to have a wide area for him to work and that if there is inclement weather I would need to have somewhere with coverage to install the glass. So I have to make all the arrangements....why dont they bring a tent to cover their work area, this has been a nightmare from the beginning
So in conclusion I just want to say, stay away from safelite!!! They have terrible reviews for install and leaks. If you have Progressive insurance, safelite handles all their claims..but you can arrange service wherever you would like and I woukd highly suggest to read the reviews in your location and pick the best other option, just NOT SAFELITE!!

They find a reason to waste your time! First appt they told me that the replacement windshield was cracked and asked if still wanted it smh. Rescheduled and waited a week for the replacement to arrive. On appointment day I dropped my car off and got a ride, 10 minutes later they called and said a few codes popped up on the scanner and needed recalibration therefore they couldn't replace the windshield only for me to find out by my insurance that recalibration is covered and it's done by the glass shop.... They are so annoying! Go elsewhere
***This is specifically the Hampton location**

I contacted the 800 number yesterday to let them know that my windshield wiper fluid no longer sprays since having my windshield replaced back in May 2026.
I was set up with a 4pm appointment to bring my car in for the problem to be fixed.
I ended up getting a phone call from Corey before 10:30am and he walked me through finding the disconnect and the problem was solved!!
He literally saved me a 45min trip for a 1min fix! Beyond happy that he took the initiative to call me.

I had a quarter size crack in my windshield right, of course in the driver side. I went onto my insurance company and they had several selections of companies to use.I chose safelite, and i'm very happy that I did.
Jayden was my technician. He called me when he was about 5-10 minutes away from the house.. he actually arrived for the appointment.Prior to so, he was early and was finished with my repair.Within twenty minutes. Luckily, he was able to fill the crack instead of having to replace the windshield. I would definitely recommend safelite to friends and family.

Take it to Danny’s…
I had some rust fixed along the roofline of my jeep. Windshield was removed as part of the process and I scheduled with Safelite to replace. By far the cheapest replacement I could attain and mobile too, perfect as my vehicle didn’t have a windshield in it at all at this point.
(If you go to cancel your appointment they’ll give you $100 discount to keep it,more on this later)
The day of my appointment a friendly young gentleman arrived at my work to install my windshield. Upon finishing he told me it was scratched and noted in his paperwork…okay…. Also overcharged me and didn’t include that $100 discount I mentioned earlier. To be clear they did in fact credit that back to me eventually.
Mobile visit number two they got a new piece of glass and reinstalled it. Massive leaks and wind noise, molding lifting up.
Visit 3 to “correct” the leaks the tech simply pushed the molding back into place and said he was done….alright….thanks bud
At this point after reading online I realized their “real” techs are at the physical store and the almost teenaged green hires are the “techs” they usually send out in their mobile vans.
Scheduled appointment 4 for the actual shop on Mercury blvd in Hampton. Much better install quality. About a week or two later a 2 inch crack arose from the lower edge right in the middle of the glass. Likely from the repeated installing and cutting out of the glass but hey. What do I know.
They agreed to replace it…again… and for visit number 5 (second time to the physical Safelite location) I was quite pleased…until the next good rain storm of course when my headliner was quite damp and water was dripping on my knee as I was driving.
At this point I went back to the store and just asked if I could get a refund and have a more reputable glass company handle my windshield. Absolutely. Apologies. So sorry blah blah. After weeks to empty promises and no refund I decided to leave an accurate account of my experience.
Took it to Danny’s who did a phenomenal job and even managed to save and reuse the cheap Chinese glass that you get from safelite. Zero problems since.
If you care about your car shop elsewhere. Verify what type of glass they’re about to put in your expensive car. Expect great upfront customer service with almost zero follow through. This was an ongoing thing for me from November to May. It is almost impossible to get an actual person on the telephone. Safelite doesn’t give out the actual stores phone number. I got a ton of “if you don’t hear from the shop by Tuesday call back” run around. It’s all ai or call center nonsense.
Trust me, spend the extra 1-200$ and have it done right, elsewhere, the first time. Insurance companies love safelite for one reason and one reason only. Low price.
