I received a call from Subaru informing me that they were hosting a trade-in event and were looking for used Subarus as there's high demand for them right now. I explained to the woman on the phone that I am satisfied with my car, despite some cosmetic damage and high mileage due to frequent travel. She assured me that those wouldn't be concerns, and that I would be able to just go, see the trade-in situation, and be free to leave with my car if I didn't find something that didn't meet my price range and needs. I think her name was Brooke, but I'm not sure, and was later informed that she does not work at the location.
Miguel Castro helped me look at different cars and try to find one in a price range I could justify. I told him right from the start that I wasn't entirely sure I'd was going to be leaving with a new car as I love mine and only came because of the phone call. He was was very understanding and didn't exhibit any signs of annoyance or anything of the sort.
Unfortunately, and through no fault of Mr. Castro, my car wasn't appraised for nearly as much as I was expecting. Like, no where near as much. That greatly impacted the price range I was looking at, and ultimately, I couldn't justify trading in my perfectly good car (note: again, I'm aware of the cosmetic damage, high mileage, and other concerns they identified, but the car runs great and meets all of my needs) and incurring the amount of debt that was being offered to me. Mr. Castro was very kind and professional the entire time, and I would definitely recommend going to him if you need a new car.
However, when we went to get my car key from Mr. Castro's higher up (I want to say his name tag said Kingsley? I may be wrong), he was not as nice and professional. He told me that by not buying a new car, they couldn't help me, I wasn't helping them, and we weren't helping the banks. I explained that, although I understood the reasoning they shared for why they priced my car so low, I was expecting a lot more for it, and that greatly affected my budget. He was very dismissive and borderline rude and he tried to convince me to just get a new car anyway.
Mr. Castro was wonderful, and I would consider going back to him if I changed my mind in the future, but Kingsley, or whatever his name is, might deter me from returning to this location.
