  Love the no wait convenience. Shuttle to National, get out, walk to car, get in and go. Staff there to help with any questions. Had to use a different rental company in the area due to travel agency hiccup and stood in line for almost an hour to get a car. So far, the best experience with rentals I’ve had. I always have a convo with Victor at the gate. Super friendly staff!

  Gave my wife a car with bald tires. Behold the old crummy rubber and the wear bar almost flush with the treads. This is unsafe. Edit: thanks for the complete useless response to this message. Later yesterday I got a tire pressure warning checked the tire pressure and it's dangerously low (7psi; it's supposed to be 38). I called National roadside assistance and they wanted me to drive all the way back to DC. Then they wanted me to go to Richmond and get a new car. They gave me an old Honda Accord, worse trim worse class of car, then barely half an hour on the highway the Accord goes "low tire pressure warning". I just called customer service today and they want me to go get yet a 3rd defective car. They don't maintain their cars.

  I’ve rented from this National Car Rental location several times over the past month, and every experience has been excellent thanks to the outstanding team here. I’d especially like to recognize Matthew, one of the managers. Every time I’ve rented a car, he’s gone above and beyond to help me find the right vehicle and make the process smooth and stress-free. He’s consistently professional, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely kind. What impressed me even more was seeing him treat every customer with the same level of care and respect. It’s clear he takes pride in his work, and I hope National recognizes the incredible customer service he provides behind the scenes because, as a customer, I definitely noticed it. I’d also like to thank Solomon for his excellent customer service while I was returning my rental vehicles. He was friendly, efficient, and made the return process quick and easy while making sure every customer was well taken care of. Employees like Matthew and Solomon are the reason I keep coming back to this location. Thank you both for making every rental experience a great one!

  I had the worst experience renting a car from National IAD. I am an Executive Elite member and rent from National almost every week for business. For this trip, I redeemed my rewards for a Premium Class vehicle for three days. At Washington Dulles (IAD), the representative instructed me to select a vehicle from one of the designated lanes. I chose a BMW X5. When I picked up the car and was going towards the exit, the same employee informed me that this car was not in the class I had reserved. I asked what class it was, explaining that I had reserved a Premium Class vehicle and, as an Executive Elite member, I mostly get upgraded even if I don't reserve Premium Class. His response was simply, “If you want to take this car, go ahead and have a good day.” At no point did he tell me that accepting the vehicle would result in an additional charge or a change in my reservation. Unfortunately, the vehicle itself was also disappointing. The wheels were covered in brake dust and appeared not to have been cleaned, and the driver’s seat lumbar support was malfunctioning, making my six-hour drive uncomfortable. When I returned the vehicle in Rochester, I explained these issues to the representative. During the return process, she noticed that I had been charged for a higher vehicle class. I informed her that no one at IAD had ever disclosed that I would incur any additional charges. She consulted with her supervisor, who assured me that someone would contact me to discuss the situation. No one ever called. Instead, I received a bill for more than $400, as they did not use my rewards and charged an extra 40/- a day for a class change. I received a standard email from their management that their goal is “total customer satisfaction” and let them know if there were any concerns. I wrote them a long email with no response back. I should mention here that I always get the best customer support at every National location across the country, and this was my first bad experience with National. I emailed and did give them an opportunity to resolve the issue, with no response; that is not usual National Customer Service.
