  I have been renting from Alamo for years (business and pleasure). The Alamo Rent A Car at Dulles Airport (IAD) has improved so much in the past 5/6 years and I give all of the credit to the managers such as Will. I just finished driving a vehicle that I had picked up from this Alamo, and upon returning it, I mentioned to Will that there were a couple of problems. Will listened and solved the problem quite easily. Because of his great management abilities, I went from satisfied customer to a very happy loyal customer. It's nice to see that a company stands behind it's promises. Thank you Will and the rest of the Alamo team at Dulles airport.

  Hello. I rented a Minivan for one week at the Washington DC airport (IAD). I am a Euopean resident. I was not allowed to rent it because I did not have my PASSPORT at hand, although I showed my driver's license and European ID card. The answer was a blunt NO. I was taken by a family member to the airport which is 45 minutes away, so I would definitely not go back and get the passport and then drive back! So I had to have a family member (US citizen!) rent the van for me.

  If I could give this place of service less than one star, I would instantly. Right as we walked up to the counter, the man behind the computer was very abrasive and rude. We were looking for assistance trying to cancel our reservation as the initial details were incorrect. Instead of assisting or helping to set up a new reservation, this man just kept repeating ‘What do you want me to do about it? Cancel it on your end’. For those wondering, I did try to cancel on my end but the app would not allow for any alterations as we were past the designated pickup time. I tried explaining this but alas he could not be bothered. He claimed there wasn’t anything he could do which I don’t doubt but I do not think you have to scoff and make fun of me (with I am assuming a manager) for asking simple questions to figure out a solution. Don’t waste your time and go with Enterprise.

  I rented a vehicle for my wife through Capital One Travel using points. Shortly after she picked up the vehicle, I discovered that several optional products had been added to the agreement, including SLP, Roadside Plus, PEC, and CDW/LDW, totaling approximately $199 before related taxes and fees. I contacted SEVERAL customer service representatives and was eventually told the matter would be reviewed by a regional manager. However, I was also informed that if no refund is approved, the charges will simply remain as-is. What is most disappointing is that there appears to be no clear resolution process beyond waiting for a decision. As a customer, I expected greater transparency regarding optional add-ons and a more thorough review when concerns were raised afterward. The vehicle itself was fine, but the experience surrounding the additional charges and the handling of my complaint left me dissatisfied. UPDATE: Alamo responded below and here is my response back... Michelle (If you're actually reading this) I've already gone to that exact link and reached out to support countless times as mentioned in my review. What's going to be different this time? I was originally told the optional charges were removed and have the email to prove it. And when I called today to check a different rep confirmed I'm not getting my money back. It feels like I've been taken advantage of and I'd appreciate a real solution.

  If I could give 0 stars I would. I came in to pick up my pre-paid rental car for my bachelorette party. The teller, Rober, who was responsible for helping me with paperwork immediately met me with combative and negative energy. I was caught off guard and almost convinced to cancel my reservation and rebook on the spot because my credit card was on Apple Pay. All I needed when arriving was to pay and add my second driver. He then proceeded to run my card for what I assumed was the second driver fee, however, he added hundreds of dollars in insurance I did not ask for. I have reached out to customer service multiple times since returning from my trip after being assured at drop off and over the phone before drop off the charges could be reversed upon vehicle inspection on return. Allegedly now the manager gets to review our open case and if it’s 10 days past the charge we’re just out of luck? Never booking with Alamo again. I suggest you find other accommodations as well.
