- EHEboney HodnettApr 29, 20262.0I came to get my battery, and alternator check Monday the 27th because I have my late grandma car, her battery light is on, I explained to the lady that I'm just trying to keep her car on the road longer so I'm tryna find out the problem, everything was fine until she shut my grandma car hood, she wasn't in a rush so I don't understand how she was so careless with shutting her hood down without removing the latch that was holding the hood, she broke my grandma latch, and I understand some car don't use them anymore, but I need her to stop moving so fast because now I have a minor issue to fix that she caused. My grandma hood was jam because the stick broken when she shut it. Replace it maybe??

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
