  Murphy’s Law states that anything that can go wrong will — and usually at the worst possible moment. So it was for us as we traveled through coastal Virginia, when the generator in our Class C motorhome went belly-up on what had to be the hottest day of the year. Which meant not only our A/C was out, but also our electric stovetop and microwave were dead in the water unless we paid for a pricey campsite so we could plug in. Inconvenient to say the least! In our search for a generator repair place, every location we called in the Newport News/Virginia Beach area referred us to one shop: Cummins Atlantic/Chesapeake. Turns out those recommendations were spot on. Not only did generator tech Robyn do an excellent job diagnosing the problem with our built-in unit, but Service Director Mike Stuart took care of us throughout the process and went a step beyond our expectations by obtaining, filling out and submitting the warranty paperwork needed to get the replacement covered by the manufacturer. Though we hope to never again to be under the sway of Mr. Murphy’s Law, we should be so lucky to have a repair experience on par with that provided us by Cummins Atlantic.

  Very courteous to our needs for our RV. They explained everything that was being done and kept us in the loop on when RV service would be complete.

  Went to a shop in NC... no help.. went to this shop, fixed in 10 mins, will definitely be back!

  I had my motorhome in for service on generator . they did a good job on the generator but as they were driving the motorhome into the bay they hit something ! They called me and told me what they done. they said they would pay for it but i gave them the bill and they refuse to call or pay DO NOT CARRY YOUR RV THERE !!!!!!

  First Doosan Repair: For the initial Doosan diagnosis, I explicitly informed Jessica, Eric, and Olivia not to exceed the agreed-upon diagnostic time limit. This limit was documented on the contract and a photograph was taken. Olivia maintained excellent communication, consistently calling me before any further work was initiated. This experience set a clear expectation for adherence to the diagnostic labor cap. Second Doosan Repair: For the second Doosan, I relayed the exact same instruction to "Mike," documenting it on the contract and taking a photograph, just as before. However, I was never contacted. I had to call for a status update myself, at which point Mike informed me the diagnosis was complete and the machine was running. I mistakenly presumed that your team had honored the agreement and had not performed any additional work—or at least would have called me first—keeping the cost within the labor time cap for the diagnosis, as with the prior repair. My significant error was providing Mike with my credit card number without first confirming the total charge. He failed to honor our agreement regarding the labor cap, leading to an excessive charge. Furthermore, Mike promised that the mechanic, Dustin, would call me on Monday, as he was off Friday. Three days later, I have still not heard from Dustin or Olivia, despite two follow-up calls and one text message. Be very cautious when dealing with Cummins Chesapeake.
