I came to IMA Motorwerke after another shop failed me, and this place was recommended to me. Unfortunately, my experience here was just as frustrating.
My Audi was in their shop for almost two months, and I ended up paying approximately $7,000 for a repair involving one piston.
But the cost wasn’t even the most frustrating part — the communication was terrible. I called and emailed repeatedly and received little to no response. Several times, I literally had to drive to the shop in person just to find out what was happening with my own car.
When a customer is spending thousands of dollars on a repair, keeping that customer informed should be basic professional service. Nearly two months, approximately $7,000, and having to physically show up just to get answers is completely unacceptable to me.
Based on my experience, I will not bring another vehicle here. Anyone considering this shop should get a detailed written estimate, ask exactly what is being repaired and why, and seriously consider getting a second opinion before authorizing a major repair.
I expected much better for $7,000.

These guys were mostly great, fair prices for NOVA and for being a Porsche shop. Then they scratched up my cars interior and gaslit me, insisting it wasn't them that scratched it up. I had to replace a few panels.
The experience interacting with IMA Motorwerke is always pleasant. I do not like to deal with vehicle problems and dread when one of my vehicles has an issue. But the entire end to end process with IMA Motorwerke - from making the appointment to after repair pickup - is efficient, quick, smooth and easy. I am always treated with patience, courtesy, and respect. The issue is diagnosed honestly with a comprehensive and understandable explanation. A fair up front price estimate is provided. I will never take my Range Rover Evoque to the dealership for repairs again! I am so glad that I found IMA Motorwerke through my online search!
I brought my vehicle to IMA Motorwerke on May 11, 2026 with three specific concerns: engine smoke beneath the car after the vehicle sat for several days, oil visible underneath the vehicle, on and around the oil pan, and poor handling. I specifically asked that the oil pan be inspected because I believed it could be a source of a leak.
Over two visits, IMA Motrowerke retained my vehicle for approximately 36 days. I paid a total of $3986.93 for three repair services, including replacement of multiple engine seals: the crankshaft seal, intermediate shaft seal, camshaft rear seal, auxiliary shaft seal, and lower balance cover seal; these repairs did not correct the oil leak or engine smoke problem. The alignment/handling issue also remained unresolved after two attempts.
Throughout the process, I repeatedly asked whether the oil pan gasket had been inspected and was ruled out by IMA as the source of the leak. I was told that it had been checked and was not leaking. After the vehicle had been in IMA's possession for approximately 34 days, I was told the oil pan was in fact, leaking and that it would cost an additional $1700.00 to repair.
The fact that I identified the oil pan as a possible source of the leak before repairs began, repeatedly requested that it be inspected, and was repeatedly assured it was not leaking raises serious concerns regarding the adequacy of IMA Motorwerke's diagnostic process and business practices.
IMA also made two unsuccessful attempts to correct the alignment. I was then told that additional camber bolts were needed, and according to my conversation and documentation, I would be charged only for parts, not additional labor. When I later received an estimate that included labor, I questioned it. IMA denied the prior commitment, declined to do further work on my vehicle and instructed me to retrieve it.
I also experienced significant communication problems. Numerous calls, voicemails, and emails seeking updates were seldom answered. I submitted two written complaints to the owner and did not receive a response or acknowledgment. IMA declined to reimburse me for repairs I believe did not fix the problems and declined to honor my request for warranty.
I have retained documentation supporting my account, including invoices, emails, photographs, videos, call records, and written communications. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and am submitting a complaint to the Virginia Attorney General.

If you're looking into transitioning from the dealer, for all of the the reasons people do, this is your place. Knowledge, value, courtesy, communication, context, presentation of options, guidance, you'll find them all here. Without getting into the specifics of the situation with my Porsche Cayenne, IMA's solution was ~$8k cheaper than the dealer's. I don't leave a lot of reviews, but leaving this to help others who find themselves faced with a similar set of circumstances.
