  Ferber's Tire & Auto Service is a top-notch business in Ashland, VA. Alex and his team assisted me when I was passing through town on a road trip with my family and delivered on a WOW customer experience. He fit me in on a busy Monday when he said he was going to. Both he and his tech listened to my situation, developed a strategy to test drive my car to recreate the noise, and inspected the tire afterwards. Low and behold the tire was damaged beyond repair. He knew my family and were only in town for the night, so he secured me a rental car so we had transportation locally and got my tired ordered and installed the next day. Alex and Danielle even helped forward me photos of my tickets I left in my car the following day, saving me a trip back to the shop. All of this was done in a genuine, and caring way that made me feel like he always had my best interest in mind. This is a local business that balances Southern Hospitality with prompt actionable customer service. My family and I are forever grateful for their assistance and support. You’d be crazy to go anywhere else in Northern Richmond Metro area. A+

  We have been going to this shop for a year, even though it's 30 minutes away from our house, because of how good the reviews are. As a woman who has been disrespected by men at auto shops more times than I can count, it seemed like my best bet. So I was pretty shocked when I picked up my car this morning and was expected to pay for $600 of services I didn't approve (front rotors). Because of bad past experiences at other shops, I was intentionally specific both when I made the appointment, and when I dropped off my vehicle, that I wanted my only my brake pads changed (the rotors had been replaced recently). I did think it was strange that they didn't call me to approve the services this time, but I shrugged it off because I was so straightforward with what I wanted. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt that it was implied that "pads only" meant "pads and rotors", I should have been given an estimate so I could have declined. When I questioned why they didn't call me to approve the price/services, the response was more or less: "tough luck, you should've known". I believe that the shop won't change pads without changing the rotors, but I suspect he knew I didn't know this and saw an opportunity take advantage of my trust. No sort of apology or acknowledgment of responsibility. But of course, he quickly changed his tune to apologize and make it right once confronted by my boyfriend. Not surprised, but frustrated to have to restart the search for a shop we feel good about. Hopefully it at least serves as a learning opportunity. I will say that I have had good experiences with Rob, and he has always been thorough at explaining the work he does on my vehicle before he does it. So that's what the second star is for.

  We have taken all of our vehicles to Ferber's for over 20 years. Anything my husband couldn't fix we trusted Ferber's to do. My husband Kenny, who was a mechanic himself for 50+ years (rebuilt diesel engines, and our cars engines) could fix practically anything, but when the job got too big or needed equipment we didn't have to fix it, we trusted Ferber's. My husband passed last year and Ferber's has been a tremendous help to me explaining things that need to be done on some of my vehicles. I have a brake pad and rotor wearing out on just one side of my 2019 Silverado that doesn't even have 20,000 miles on it. I know that's very strange because they should last a lot longer than that. The guy at Ferber's explained it to me very clearly what was probably going on because the truck had been sitting since my husband's death. I like a business that doesn't mind explaining things to a woman that wants to know every detail. Thanks guys. 🙂 I'm gonna follow Kenny's lead.
