I had a fantastic experience with National Car Rental thanks to Kwame! From the moment I arrived, he was professional, friendly, and genuinely focused on customer service. He took the time to make sure I was taken care of and matched me with a really great vehicle that made my work travel much more comfortable.
As someone who travels often for government work, I truly appreciate employees who go above and beyond while still keeping things smooth and efficient. Kwame’s attitude, professionalism, and attention to detail absolutely stood out. You can tell he cares about the customer experience and takes pride in what he does.
The vehicle was clean, reliable, and honestly felt like the perfect fit for me which made being away from home a little easier. National is lucky to have him on their team. Thanks again, Kwame! 😊
Pick up and drop off was fine. No issues at all. It seems like a slow process to exit the facility, but all in all no problems. The staff at the airport were very friendly. The signage at Reagan could be improved, I passed the National return and had to back up. The vehicle was in very good condition. All in a very good experience.

Great service starting from the arrival I had an issue with connecting to Apple Car Play on my vehicle - Buick Envista, but the lady in the booth at the exit gate came into the vehicle and helped. She too had difficulty but finally got it working. She went the extra step ! THANK YOU. SOrry I did not get her name but you can find out and thank her by the stafing at DCA on April 30th at 11PM.
The car also very nice 0 new only 323 mi. I picked over other SUV optons to get better gas mileage. Please start offering HYBRIDS as standard vehicles again as you did. before with the FORD FUSION.
I choose National Rental Car because I travel a lot for business and the last thing that I want to worry about after flying for sometimes up to 14 hours.
Is waiting in a long line, dealing with rude customer service, not getting the vehicle that I've reserved or a dirty smelly, smoked in vehicle.
I've used all the rental car companies and I have not found any that cares for their clients like National.
I reserve a vehicle online and I go straight to it after retrieving my luggage. I always get greeted by an courteous associate with a smile, great attitude and clean appearance that walks me straight to the selected vehicle, sometime they even load up my luggage.
Their vehicles are always full of gas, clean and well maintained. I get the same experience when I return the vehicle as well.

When you make a reservation, there’s a reasonable expectation that a vehicle will be available at the confirmed time. Unfortunately, that was not the case at DCA National. Upon arrival, there were no cars ready, and we ended up waiting in the parking lot for over 1.5 hours while vehicles slowly became available.
What made the experience particularly disappointing was the complete lack of structure or recognition of customer status. The process effectively became first-come, first-served, which undermines the value of loyalty. As an Executive Elite member, I expected at least some prioritization, yet we were ultimately assigned a below-average vehicle, while another customer—who appeared to be new to National—received a significantly better option.
Equally frustrating was the lack of communication. We were initially told the wait would be approximately 30 minutes, which turned into 1.5 hours, with no updates or transparency along the way. A proactive notification ahead of time, or even honest, real-time updates on-site, would have gone a long way in setting expectations and reducing frustration.
Overall, the experience felt disorganized and disappointing. A reservation should carry meaning, and a bit more honesty and communication would have made a significant difference.
