I give a high number 5 rating to Mr. Tire employees. I give a low number 1 rating to the Mr. Tire computer system. I dropped in for routine tire rotation and oil change at Mr. Tire, 5200 Lee Highway (or, now 5200 Langston Blvd), Arlington, VA 22207 today, 28 May 2026. I sat in the lobby and worked at my laptop for about 2 hours while the work was being done. The wait time was entirely acceptable because I did not have an appointment and the shop was busy. The very Bad: Because I sat there working at my laptop for 2 hours, I witnessed a number of customers approach the counter and discuss work to be done on their vehicles. Each customer went through what I went through: they had to wait for 5-10 minutes for the computer to do its job. The computer processing time should have taken only a nano-second. The computer program that Mr. Tire is using is antiquated. It is User-Unfriendly. It is User-Hostile. The computer wait time was outrageous. The Mr. Tire employees apologized repeatedly to each customer for the slowness of the computer. I do not know what your employees were thinking, but I was thinking, “this really pisses me off.” The Good: Your employees were professional and patient. They apologized for the slowness of the computer, but they did not yell, scream and cuss like I was doing quietly to myself. If Mr. Tire cares about its employees, Mr. Tire will install a new computer system that is fast and efficient. If Mr. Tire does not install a new computer system, Mr. Tire is sending a clear message to its employees. That message is, “Mr. Tire does not care about you.” If Mr. Tire wants to demoralize its employees and drive them off to seek employment elsewhere, do not change a thing. The current Mr. Tire computer system is doing that job for Mr. Tire. In Arlington, Virginia, the street name changed from Lee Highway to Langston Blvd four years ago. Yet, the letterhead on the website and on my Mr. Tire receipt has “Lee Highway” at the top. So, have one of your computer programmers change it to the correct name! I identified with Mr. Tire’s employees today. I felt great empathy with them because I went through the same crap when I was still working. I took early retirement from the US Government because the computer systems were antiquated and USER-UNFRIENDLY. I felt like every time I used the computer I was being punished by an unknown, malicious, wrathful deity. I had to fight with the computer to do my job! So, today’s visit to Mr. Tire brought back some vivid, bad memories. Regardless of religion, if Mr. Tire wants its employees to believe that God is a good and loving God, then you better install a new computer system in every Mr. Tire store ASAP. Very respectfully submitted.
