  Your staff at our arrival and departure in SLC were truly courteous and professional. We had no issues with the mechanics of our rental. We did feel the headlights on the Jeep "Compass" were not as strong as they should be, but then my wife and I are senior citizens, and unfamiliar with the JEEP line. At home we drive late model ACURAs, MDX and INTEGRA.

  The cars were clean and it was convenient since the National lot is right across the street from the terminal. That being said, the Executive aisle has turned into a bit of a racket. If you rent cars often for business, I would probably switch to Hertz. I was about to hop into a vehicle when Adam (manager) approached me to let me know that vehicle was unavailable. There were 5 of them. At first he claimed they were reserved for other customers. That made sense, but then after chatting he eventually said I could take the SUV, but would have to pay a surcharge of $75 per day. If it was actually reserved, he wouldn’t have let me have the car at all. The loyalty program has basically just turned into a bait and switch program for upsells. The National experience at most airports is amazing. I would use Hertz at SLC.

  This was a bad experience. Our car stopped, engine shut off, in the middle of no-where between Moab, Utah and Salt Lake City, Utah. It was very trying and stressful as we had to wait over 3 1/2 hours for a tow truck to arrive. The car was a Nissan Rogue; I will never rent a Nissan again. In calling National and informing them of the problem, it required three different phone calls. The people we were speaking to were difficult to understand adding more stress to the situation. We were told at least two different times that a tow truck was on the way to us within 45 minutes or so which never happened. We were finally contacted by a tow truck driver who travelled two hours to us to then transport the car and us to the airport in Salt Lake City. Overall, this trying experience left us with a very bad taste for our rental experience with National.

  I’m an Executive member. Arrived today at SLC and had a very limited car selection. I could’ve done an upgrade, but since had a one way stop, the only option was Tahoe which didn’t work for me as I was looking for a smaller SUV or AWD sedan. Jose despite knowing that I’m an Executive member didn’t really help much and said this is all we have which were 2 trucks. The other individual finally helped me and got me an Equinox. I’m not sure if it’s Jose’s fault that not a lot of cars were available, but I was given the impression that they didn’t really care.

  We've rented cars from this National Car Rental location in SLC several times now. There has always been a good selection of vehicles to choose from. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the checkout process moves fairly well for an airport rental car location. Our latest visit in August 2026, we needed a full-size SUV and were pleased that they did have more than one vehicle to choose from, but all of them were either White or Black Jeep Wagoneer. The one we ultimately selected had just under 23,000 miles on it and was quite dirty inside and out. There were many black marks and scratches on the body which we made sure to photograph before we left. The interior glass looked like it had never been cleaned and was very hazy. The dash board had a light coating of red dust over everything, including the touchscreen for the infotainment system. We looked at the other full-size SUV options and they were either equally dirty or they didn't offer the captains chairs that we wanted in the second row. Ultimately we had to buy cleaning wipes and clean the interior and the glass ourselves which was very disappointing for what you pay for a full-size SUV rental. The Jeep drove well and had all the space we needed for our trip. It was surprising good on gas with about a 400-mile range. The Wagoneer served our needs, but did wind up throwing a check engine light about 1/2 way through our trip. Since we were visiting Yellowstone on the trip and the nearest Enterprise or National Location were more than 2-hours away, we ultimately had to have the mechanic inside the park check the code. He advised it was a misfire code and was likely because the vehicle needed a tune-up but advised we should be okay to drive it. We were able to continue using it the remainder of the trip without any incident, but getting a check engine light on your rental was not ideal. The return process was super easy and the staff were very friendly as always. There were no unexpected charges or issues. The staff did apologize for the check engine light and advised that the vehicle would go to the mechanic as soon as possible. Overall the vehicle served our needs, it's just disappointing that it was so dirty and that it needed some mechanical attention. Our hope is that our future rentals here will be more like our past experience with a good selection of vehicles that are clean and in good condition.
