I am writing to formally report an unsatisfactory customer service experience I had at your Maverik location at 87 N Main St, Layton, Utah, involving an employee named Heather.
I visited the store to make a purchase and initially observed no one at the register. Heather then returned from the restroom to assist me. At that time, I noticed her hands were wet.
When she requested to see my identification, I held it up for her to view. However, she insisted on physically taking the ID. I expressed concern, as her hands were visibly wet and water appeared to be dripping from them. She responded that store policy required her to physically handle the identification, despite my concerns. The interaction became increasingly tense, and I ultimately became frustrated and would not tolerate her behavior. Her reaction resulted in the police being called.
This is beyond frustrating because she should have dried her hands upon leaving the restroom and could’ve had a more pleasant demeanor in a customer-facing position such as this. The police agreed that the situation was unnecessary, but acquiesced to keep the peace.
I would also like to note that I have not visited this specific Maverik location in over two years due to a prior experience involving the same employee. I have witnessed her be cordial to other customers, but for some reason when I reach the counter her disposition changes. In contrast, I have continued to visit other Maverik locations during that time and have consistently had positive experiences, which makes this incident particularly disappointing.
I am bringing this matter to your attention in the hope that it can be reviewed and addressed appropriately.
