We purchased our first travel trailer from this Camping World location last September. After a lengthy paperwork process, we were informed that the trailer needed to be winterized before pickup. We thought it was unusual but didn’t question it further since winter was approaching. When we arrived to pick it up, we were told our vehicle wasn’t compatible and that we’d need to purchase an expensive trailer hitch and receiver. I chose to install the receiver and wiring myself, but they needed the trailer moved quickly, so we borrowed a truck. The anti-sway hitch was adjusted for the borrowed truck. When we later used the trailer with our own vehicle, it needed to be readjusted, and we were charged an excessive amount for that service. Fast forward to April 2026: While preparing the trailer for the upcoming season, I discovered a burst copper hose on the water heater. I contacted Camping World to ask how this could have happened. They claimed the trailer had actually been de-winterized and there was no paperwork indicating otherwise. I explained that we were explicitly told it was being winterized and that a “winterized” sticker was still on the door, so we had no reason to doubt it. The service advisor said there was no proof it had been winterized by them and that they don’t use stickers like that and indicated they would not cover the repair. I strongly recommend avoiding this Camping World location. Customer service is clearly not a priority here, and price gouging appears to be common practice.

Untrustworthy service, predatory practices, and zero accountability I brought my trailer in for two things: a grey tank sensor diagnosis and an awning estimate. I was quoted $40 for the sensor diagnostic and told the awning inspection was free. What followed was one of the worst service experiences I've had. The $40 diagnosis that became $300 When they called with results, I was told the sensor issue was pinched wires. I asked if they'd fixed it for the $40. No — the bill was $300. Their explanation: completing the diagnosis required performing the repair. That's not how diagnostics work, and that's not what I agreed to. I never authorized $300 worth of work. Here's what the actual repair was: a handful of heat-shrink butt splice connectors — commodity parts you can buy in bulk for pennies each. The total material cost is under $5. A qualified technician can splice 3–4 wires in 15–30 minutes. At even a $150/hr shop rate, that's roughly $40–$75 in labor. Charging $300 for that job — without prior authorization — is a textbook example of predatory practices. The roof sealant upsell. Unprompted, they told me my roof sealant needed complete replacement for $300. I had just had the roof professionally resealed five months earlier. When I questioned it, they insisted it was in bad condition. I have photos of my roof taken both by Camping World during the visit and by me afterward. The sealant is still bright white, the membrane is intact, and while the edges are imperfect, nothing in those photos comes close to justifying a full tear-off and replacement. This felt less like an honest assessment and more like an opportunistic add-on. Poor communication at every step. I approved the awning repair and was told the part would arrive in about a week. After a week with no call, I followed up myself. Only then was I told the part was on backorder — 4 to 6 weeks out (which they knew 2 days in) . Nobody contacted me. Their explanation: "we were busy." I cancelled the order and picked up my trailer. By-the-way, another repair shop quoted the same awning replacement for $500 cheaper! They argued instead of apologizing. I was actually in a decent mood at pickup and willing to move on. I calmly mentioned my dissatisfaction with the communication to the checkout employee, who apologized. Then, on my way out the door, the service advisor stopped me — not to apologize, but to justify the unauthorized charge, defend the lack of communication, and relitigate the roof sealant. I told him plainly: the only appropriate response here is an apology. He disagreed. That last moment sums up the entire experience. Poor communication isn't a mistake they regret — it's a pattern they'll defend to your face. I won't be back, and I'd strongly caution anyone who values transparency and honest pricing to look elsewhere.
