My MIL’s car wouldn’t start so she called me. I came up to AutoZone where Garrett helped me out from start to finish! He first tested the battery for and told me it had a low charge. He said it could be the battery or it could be the alternator. He threw it on the fast charger for about an hour. Came back to test it and sure enough, battery was bad! I purchased a new battery and Garrett installed it for me! Super friendly, super professional, and just a great experience overall! Thank you!

You're losing an in-person customer to online retailers. Today's experience at the Seguin AutoZone is exactly why customers increasingly choose to shop online instead of walking into a store. The one advantage a brick-and-mortar store has over the internet is knowledgeable employees who are willing to help. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. I'm a licensed mental health clinician, but lately I've been learning how to maintain equipment while developing a very small piece of river property I purchased to do eco therapy. I recently bought a used dump trailer that wasn't lifting, and I needed transmission fluid for the hydraulic system.
When I walked into the store, there were no customers. Three employees were standing together at the front talking. I asked if someone could help me locate the transmission fluid, and they pointed me to the correct aisle. Once I got there, I found shelves organized by the brands the fluids were intended for, but nothing that clearly indicated a universal option for a used, non-name-brand dump trailer.
I went back to the counter and asked if someone could help me identify the right product. Rather than anyone stepping forward to assist, the response was essentially, "Not me." One employee pointed to a young woman and said, "She's the most knowledgeable one out of all of us," and she immediately responded, "Stop it, no I'm not." Eventually, one of the employees answered my question, but only after everyone seemed reluctant to help. I wasn't expecting every employee to be a mechanic. I was expecting someone to be willing to engage, ask a few questions, or help me find the right product. That's the value of shopping in person.
Retail stores don't lose customers because online prices are sometimes lower. They lose customers when the in-store experience offers no added value. If customers have to research products on their phones because the employees don't know or don't want to help, there is little reason to drive to the store in the first place. AutoZone should invest more in product knowledge and customer service training for its frontline employees. They represent your brand, and interactions like this are what drive loyal, in-person customers to order from ann online retailer instead.
Today, you didn't just lose a sale—you lost a customer who prefers supporting local businesses and values face-to-face service. That is disappointing.
