This station is incredibly convenient! The covered charging area is a lifesaver on rainy days. They’ve thought of everything—providing trash bins and windshield washers at the stalls. There is ample space between vehicles, making access easy and stress-free. Plus, the bathrooms are spotless. We much prefer stopping here over the overcrowded Buc-ee's!

Make sure your vehicle is turned off. It was a little finnicky but we got it to work and it was fast!

Our youngest needed a bathroom break on the return from San Antonio to Houston. We took the opportunity to add a little more juice to ensure we had ample reserve for the journey home. There are four bays and two-double chargers. The bays are covered, which is beneficial in the hot Texan sun or thunderstorms. The connection for our vehicle was CCS but I did not check the other bays to see their details. I added 21%/24kWh in 11 minutes. This equates to around 67 miles for our car. Highest charging speed was 191kW and the average was 145kW. Cost was around $0.62/kWh including tax, with no connection fee. I do have the EVGo app but it required an update and since my Apple store is in the UK, it is a pain having to switch regions and accounts. My wife has an Android phone and can do this at the touch of a button. Apple; sort this out. Therefore I used my debit card. The first connection was not successful as the machine got itself in a muddle. I disconnected the charger and reconnected, following the steps which were now in synch. If you do not have a successful first connection here, just reconnect and try again. The family used the restrooms and we purchased drinks and snacks from the store. All good.
COVERED PARKING!! Having covered parking for an EV charging station is so underrated. When it’s raining, it makes all the difference. I’m grateful for that little detail. Other than that, it’s a pretty typical charging station. Good stop between Houston and San Antonio.
Stopped at the Pilot Travel Center in Schulenburg Tx around noon. The first charging station would not work. Move to the other side and it worked. Later that evening coming back through Schulenburg I could not get the same charging station to work. So I moved to another charging station at the same location and it didn't work. Called evgo for customer assistance but the fellow was not able to help me. Use the charging station on the other side of my charging station and it worked. Very frustrating. If GM energy and evgo want to compete with Tesla, they're going to have to get their act together.
