I have been getting my oil change at Pit Pros for many years, always a pleasurable experience. Until now. Today, I took my truck in for its 5,000 mile oil change. I didn’t see any familiar faces. I was informed that the place is under new ownership. That’s ok because they had oil change history in their computer.
I sat down in the waiting room where I’ve been many times. Usually other customers are there, reading, working on their laptop. But today, a man was slouching on a chair, watching TV/videos on his phone with the volume blasting. I sat down to work, and asked him if he’d lower the volume.
He got up, came over, stood real close and told me in Spanish that if I was bothered by the loud sound, I didn’t need to come here! He angrily walked out.
A few minutes later, I went out front, and wow! That rude, video watching man was changing my oil! Emilio, turns out, works at Pit Pros! At the register, I asked if he owned the place, because only a business owner would have the nerve to watch TV in the waiting room and tell a paying customer he shouldn’t come here if he’s bothered with the loudness of his video! I told him that I was surprised at how he treated me as a customer and he got rude. Told me that this was his place and I am the one who didn’t have a right to be here or say anything! Just incredible.
Before leaving, I spoke to the manager and told him exactly what happened while Emilio looked on, as he taunted me saying “have a nice day. Bye. Have a nice day.”
I even told him, “you represent the business! I can’t believe you’re talking to a customer like that!” He didn’t care. He told me I had no business there and didn’t have any right to say anything. “Este es mi lugar” he kept saying.
Needless to say, the new owners do not have the same discretion in hiring as the previous owner did. It was a nice place to get an oil change while it lasted. I won’t be going back. Emilio can comfortably watch Spanish TV on his phone without me interrupting his relaxing work environment.
