I have been coming to this location for years, back when it operated as Kwik Kar, and unfortunately my first experience since the oil-change side became Jiffy Lube will also be my last.
What disappoints me most is how much the overall value and convenience have changed. Under Kwik Kar, I was accustomed to paying approximately $70–$80 for my oil change. Today, my full-synthetic oil change was $129.99, plus a $9.99 shop supplies fee that I was not told about beforehand. Even after a $20 discount, my total was $126.66. I understand that prices increase over time and that businesses change, but that's a substantial difference for what felt like essentially the same routine service I had been receiving here for years.
The experience with the adjoining car wash has changed as well. A complimentary basic wash is technically still included with the oil change, but because the oil-change business is now Jiffy Lube while the car wash remains Kwik Kar, the Jiffy Lube staff no longer takes the vehicle over to be washed when the oil change is complete. Customers now have to move their own vehicles over to the car wash side. Previously, I could also apply a $10 discount toward upgrading the complimentary wash. That benefit is now gone.
Since I was already there, I decided to pay for an upgraded car wash for convenience. I wanted the $55 package, but was told that because it was after 4:00 p.m (it was 4:07), I could only purchase the $35 Ocean Signature package—even though the car wash remained open until 6:00 p.m. I wasn't requesting a full detail, so that cutoff was surprising and added to an already disappointing experience.
I do want to specifically acknowledge the assistant manager at Jiffy Lube. He was very nice to me, and I genuinely appreciated his kindness and professionalism. My decision not to return isn't because of how he treated me personally.
Ultimately, though, the combination of the significantly higher oil-change price, an unexpected shop supplies fee, the loss of the car-wash upgrade discount, having to move my own vehicle between the two businesses, and the reduced car-wash options made this feel like a considerable downgrade from the experience I had as a longtime Kwik Kar customer.
I've been loyal to this location for years, which is why I'm so disappointed to say that I'll be taking my oil-change business elsewhere going forward.
