As a wife of a shade tree mechanic that wants nothing to do with technology, my life is well…interesting. Ryan was able to help with parts needed for a resto hubby is working on. He had the resources, knowledge, patience, recommendations and any other amazing thing that can be said, including tips and tricks that only experience can bring. Also, kudos to his parents for raising such an incredible person. He assured my husband and saved me a lot of research on a motor and modification that is quite complicated and he didn’t even flinch. That is incredibly, dare I say almost impossible in today’s world. Attention Advance Auto Parts: he is more than an asset to your company and I hope he gets the recognition for the immeasurable value he lends to your company and customers. Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
