  I’m just trying to understand the pricing because I was told one of the things that separates y’all from U-Haul is that Penske works with small businesses and helps us grow, instead of hitting us with crazy mileage charges. I’m only going about 20 miles max for this local job, but I’m being charged for 150 miles. That honestly doesn’t make sense to me. I’m not trying to be disrespectful, but I really feel like I’m getting scammed out of money when I’m only driving 20 miles and getting charged for 150 miles. U-Haul is offering me a local rental for around $100. I’m just trying to understand why Penske is charging me so much more when this is a small, local job. I’m trying to grow my business, and every dollar matters. I was told Penske was different because y’all wanted to help small businesses grow, so I’m hoping y’all can work with me on this. I’d rather do business with Penske, but the pricing has to make sense. Can somebody please look over this and see if there’s a better local rate or a way to adjust the mileage? I’m only going 20 miles, not 150.

  Updated 8/7/26: I booked a specific truck (16ft refrigerated truck) 3 months in advance. I also put down a credit card 2 months in advance for the truck, at which time I had to wait outside in the heat for about an hour because the customer service door was locked during business hours. At no time over 3 months did the rental sales rep explain that availability of the 16-ft truck could be an issue due to the small number of vehicles in the fleet. When I called again the week of the reservation to confirm everything was good to go, he texted me several hours later at the end of the day to say that no 16-ft trucks were available and all they could offer was a 26-ft truck, which was logistically impossible for our use case. He did not respond to a text or call I sent immediately in response asking for a solution and more information. My original low rating of this business was due to the unprofessional communication from the rental sales rep. I’ve edited this review to increase the rating because the manager, Roman, was very patient and helpful in getting us a different truck that, while not an ideal alternative for our use case, ended up being what we went with. The actual rental of this vehicle went smoothly after that .
