- MCMalachai Conrad2 days ago2.0Somewhat polite customer service. Brought in a bad battery today for my girlfriend's car to replace while she's at work. She has a warranty but instead of swapping out for a new battery they said that they could only recharge it and I could only leave it overnight to pick up next day. HAHA yeah no we need a battery NOW. I think my girlfriend got a warranty there because advance Auto parts was the closest place at the time but I've never gone there in my life. This is the first time I've gone to somewhere besides AutoZone and they didn't honor the warranty. Maybe AutoZone isn't following procedure but any battery I've ever had with them I've been able to swap out no questions asked by using my warranty. My mother had a bad alternator that was draining her battery and I must have swaped that battery three times at AutoZone before we were able to fix the problem. If you're looking for a place with a good battery warranty, AutoZone might be a little more ghetto but at least they'll give you a new battery without hassling you. We just took their battery to AutoZone to swap out and they were super helpful. (Go to AutoZone)

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
