I recently had an experience at Cooley Kia in Irving, Texas, that I feel compelled to share. Armed with $3,000 in cash, I drove to the dealership, eager to see what kind of car I could get approved for. A salesman, Quentin Richardson, greeted me warmly and ushered me to his desk, where we discussed exactly what I was looking for—my budget, my preferences. He pulled up a few options, and I zeroed in on one that caught my eye—until I saw it up close. Despite its appeal, it was marred by three or four visible dents. When I pointed this out, I was simply told, “We have a great dent guy.” But even with a dent guy, it didn’t sit right—damage should be reflected in the price, and there was no real negotiation. Still, I decided to apply. The very next day, I gathered my bank records, took the drive back home, and submitted all the paperwork. Quentin thanked me and promised a callback—but that call never came. For three days, I chased them, calling every few hours, and each time, the same line: “I was about to call you back.” Meanwhile, across town at CarMax in Irving, I found a better car—a 2024 Corolla, pristine, with fewer miles. And Tony, my CarMax representative, was a dream—responsive, proactive, and truly invested in the process. In the end, the car I got was newer, with fewer miles, and a much smoother experience. If you’re thinking of heading to Cooley Kia, I urge you to think twice—because your time, money, and trust deserve better.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I do not recommend Clay Cooley Kia in Irving at all. This was one of the most frustrating dealership service experiences I’ve ever had. I brought my 2021 Kia K5 in for ignition coil issues, spark plug concerns, and multiple recall repairs while still under warranty. From the beginning, communication was poor and inconsistent. My service advisor Christian often gave unclear or incorrect updates, and I repeatedly had to call the dealership myself just to find out what was going on with my vehicle. At one point, I was told a necessary part for my repair was not available after I had already dropped my car off and arranged my schedule around it. Later, another advisor, Michael, informed me that the part had actually been at the dealership the entire time, which caused unnecessary delays and wasted time. Michael also apologized and told me he would personally make sure everything was handled correctly, including the spark plug issue, due to all the inconvenience I had already experienced. Based on that, I brought my vehicle back in again. I then spoke directly with management, and the service manager told me in person that the spark plug repair would be covered under warranty and taken care of. I relied on that confirmation. However, after I left the dealership, I was later told that management had changed their decision and would no longer cover the repair. I was never called, never notified, and never informed of that change — I only found out after I picked up my vehicle and reviewed the paperwork myself. Being told one thing directly and then having it reversed without any communication was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. The entire process took weeks, required multiple unnecessary trips, and involved repeated miscommunication and lack of follow-up. I also opened a case with Kia Corporate and still never received any meaningful resolution or communication back. Overall, this experience felt disorganized, inconsistent, and unprofessional. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone who values honesty, communication, or respect for their time. Especially after being told by Michael in the service department how the sales team literally scams people out of their money by signing them up for warranties without their knowledge and not even activating them but picketing the money. Please save yourself the time and headache and find a different Kia dealership.

Absolute 0 professionalism by the staff here. The person called James has lots of attitude and is not friendly at all. I had been there to check out Kia K5 EX. This person initially disagreed to give a test drive, later, he made us walk in rounds around the complex in search of the K5 car. My old parents had to walk around a lot. He got the car after 15 minutes for which he had to jump start the car as its battery was dead. He denied to explain the features of the car as he told it was not his job. The worst thing was, the car stopped during the test drive as the battery was dead. Then I had to turn off the engine and turn it on again. On top of all this, the dealer expected me to buy the car and behaved rude when I disagreed. Please think before you visit this dealer. If possible AVOID. Kia, I expect more professionalism from you!!

Unfortunately, this marks my second negative experience with a Clay Cooley Automotive Group dealership, and the consistency of these experiences across locations is deeply concerning. It reflects a broader pattern of unacceptable customer treatment rather than an isolated incident. I brought my mother’s vehicle to the Clay Cooley Kia of Irving location strictly for an appraisal. For months, their staff had persistently contacted her, encouraging her to trade in her vehicle. She made it explicitly clear to their representative, Zahra, that we were seeking an appraisal only, as she was comparing offers from multiple dealerships before making a purchase decision. This expectation was communicated in advance and should have been respected without exception. Upon arrival, I was briefly acknowledged by several sales representatives, but the moment I stated I was there solely for an appraisal, their interest immediately dissipated. I was directed across the showroom with no meaningful assistance. The individual who ultimately took the keys agreed to proceed with the appraisal, but what followed was nothing short of dismissive and unprofessional. After a short wait, he returned and, without providing documentation, explanation, or even the courtesy of a proper conversation, stated “$18,000” in passing while continuing to walk away. There was no attempt to review the valuation, no breakdown of how the figure was determined, and no opportunity for questions. This was not an appraisal; it was a complete disregard for basic customer service standards. Equally unacceptable was the conduct of Zahra, who never introduced herself, acknowledged me, or engaged in any form of professional interaction despite being the point of contact prior to the visit. The message conveyed was unmistakable: if an immediate sale is not on the table, the customer is not worth their time. What makes this particularly egregious is that my mother was fully prepared to purchase a vehicle within the week and had initially considered returning to this dealership based on a prior experience. That consideration has now been entirely eliminated. No customer, regardless of intent to purchase, should be treated with such indifference and disrespect. This pattern of behavior raises serious concerns about the standards upheld across Clay Cooley Automotive Group. Professionalism, transparency, and basic courtesy should not be contingent upon an immediate transaction. We will not be returning and will be conducting business elsewhere. My mother has already chosen to move forward with another Kia dealership that demonstrated professionalism and respect from the outset.

Unfortunately, 1-star is as low as it goes, so they get that one by default. Can’t tell you about the buying process because we never made it that far. Found a car in their online inventory that looked promising, and requested info. Got a text right back telling me it was available. Set up an appt w/ confirmation message the next morning. While on the way to the dealer, sent a message to ensure that the car we inquired about was still available and told them that was the only car that we were interested in. We were told the car was indeed available and it would be pulled out front and ready to test drive. When we arrived, it was not. Surprise, surprise. The salesman looked it up, and then told us that it had just been taken to another lot. He said he would see if he could get it pulled back over, and walked away. He came back with some grimy looking salesman in a gold chain and shook his head to let us know it was gone. We had already made it clear we were not interested in any other vehicles, but grimy with the perm tried to schmooze us anyway. We obviously weren’t having it and he called us rude as we walked away, as if baiting someone into a dealership under false pretenses isn’t rude. Waste of time and gas. Proceed at your own risk, but know that the RAV4 listed below is not available and still posted. Update: Not only is it still up, but the dealership is still responding to inquiries as of now saying it is available, which is fraudulent and illegal. See screenshots below.
