I can honestly say that throughout my years working with and shopping at AutoZone, I’ve had some amazing experiences. People cared. People handled business. As a former PSM who worked there for 3 years, I understood what customer service, urgency, professionalism, and respect toward customers were supposed to look like.
Unfortunately, my recent experience at the AutoZone on Aldine Bender completely destroyed that image for me.
Ms. Anna gave me one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered in my life — not only as a customer, but as someone who once managed and represented the AutoZone brand myself.
Customers stood in line for over 30 minutes while private phone conversations were being conducted behind the counter. There was no greeting, no urgency, no professionalism, no proactive assistance, and absolutely no care shown toward the customers standing there waiting. The attitude and overall lack of concern were honestly shocking.
Coming from someone who understands how these stores are supposed to operate, this was embarrassing to witness.
I ended up walking across the street to Advance Auto Parts, where I received excellent service immediately. That experience alone reminded me what customer service is supposed to feel like.
As a business owner, I take professionalism seriously. Because of this experience, I will be disconnecting my business accounts from AutoZone indefinitely.
People remember how you treat them. Customer service still matters.
