ETA: I reached out to the email provided by the company's response on this review. I emailed them right after getting the CORRECT email from them (was given a nonworking email from grease monkey so they would not have to handle this issue). I have yet to hear anything.
My sister recently had an experience at Grease Monkey in Henderson, TX that turned what should have been a routine oil change into months of frustration, financial stress, and a vehicle repair she never should have had to deal with.
On February 27, 2026, my sister,’s vehicle taken to Grease Monkey for a routine oil change. $128.55 for the service.
After the oil change, the vehicle developed serious problems. The issue involved the oil service, including the oil drain plug not being properly secured/reinstalled, resulting in the vehicle losing oil and ultimately suffering damage.
It was taken to the dealership on the way home and they identified that there was no oil in the car.(THE SAME DAY)
This was a mistake that could have cost her her vehicle — and potentially put her and her family in a dangerous situation.
The technician was aware of what had happened and even offered to buy her dinner. While that may have been intended as a kind gesture, that did not solve anything!
She only wanted them to take responsibility for the damage caused by the service THEY performed.
She wasn't asking for anything unreasonable.
She wasn't asking for extra money.
She wasn't asking for special treatment.
She wanted them to fix damage they caused. THATS IT!
And before anyone questions why the vehicle wasn't immediately repaired, the reality is that finances are tight. Like most families, she didn't have thousands of dollars sitting around for an unexpected vehicle repair. She had to figure out how to manage the situation financially while trying to get the company to address the problem.
The vehicle ultimately needed $1,889.20 in repairs, and she also had to rent another vehicle while dealing with the situation. The Enterprise documentation shows approximately $262.05 in rental charges, Because they had a vacation already fully paid for.
For months, she tried to handle this privately.
She repeatedly called.
She provided documentation.
She followed up.
She tried to get someone to address the situation.
Eventually, after months of trying, she sent a formal demand letter to corporate.
She finally called AGAIN and got in contact with someone regarding the claim — only to ultimately have the claim declined.
Grease Monkey has refused to pay for the repairs or the expenses resulting from this situation.
What makes this even more frustrating is that they did not offer to inspect the vehicle on the day the problem occurred. My friend was left to navigate the repairs, transportation, and financial burden herself.
She has documentation for everything — the original oil-change receipt, service paperwork, repair invoices, rental agreement, parts receipts, and communication showing her repeated attempts to resolve this.
Thankfully, she is going to be okay. Thank God she was eventually able to get her vehicle repaired, and most importantly, her family is safe and okay.
But that doesn't change the fact that this should have never happened in the first place.
A oil change should not turn into a situation where someone's vehicle is damaged, their family is left without reliable transportation, and they have to spend months fighting to get a company to even address the problem.
Please protect yourself. Keep every receipt. Keep every text, email, invoice, repair estimate, and piece of documentation. Take pictures. Document what happens. And don't assume that a company will automatically do the right thing if something goes wrong.
My sister tusted a company with her vehicle, and that trust came at a very high cost.
She tried to resolve this privately.
She gave them every opportunity to make it right.
All she asked was that they take resposibility for the mistake and pay for the damage it caused.
They chose not to.
No family should have to go through this over a simple oil change.
