  To whom it may concern. I was trying to email or send this privately to Enterprise but they no longer have a way to contact them in writing so here is a public post. My wife and I travelled to Dallas Texas for our son’s graduation from the program he was in and to visit my wife’s family. The first half of our trip my sister in law was able to drive us around. For the second part of our trip I needed a vehicle so I decided to rent from Enterprise and I chose the airport location as I would need the vehicle to get to the airport to fly home so it made sense to pick up and drop off at the same location to not incur unneeded additional costs. My sister in law kindly drove us the hour drive to the airport Enterprise location and dropped us off to pick up the vehicle I had reserved. I did not believe I required my passport but just my drivers licence and as such I had left my passport with all my other belongings at my sister in laws house. I presented my Alberta (Canadian) photo drivers licence and major credit card to the staff but the employee and then manager at the airport location refused to rent me a vehicle because I did not have my passport. Even after I showed them my confirmation email from Enterprise saying I did not need it. “ Driver's License Information Customers who reside in the United States, U.S. Territories, or Canada Customers who reside in the U.S., U.S. Territories, or Canada must present a valid, unexpired government-issued Driver’s license which includes a photograph of the customer. Digital licenses are not accepted. The driver's license must be valid for the entire rental period. In some US and Canadian locations, customers NOT holding a US/Canadian driver’s license may be asked to provide additional, valid government-issued documentation. Examples of this may include a valid passport.“ I also explained my passport was an hours drive away and then another hour drive to get back. I also had other government issued ID, but they still refused as THEIR policy says they require a passport to confirm ID in addition to a drivers licence if it is not from the USA. I was now stuck at the airport. No way to get a rental and my ride had left. We then called my sister in law who kindly returned to the airport, came to the Enterprise counter and rented a vehicle for us under her name. I was permitted to be an authorized driver but she had to drive the rental off the lot as I was not permitted to do so. Immediately outside the gate I was then authorized to drive the rental car until I returned it. Do you see the stupidity in this??? This now also effected my insurance as my credit card has some rental car insurance coverage but only if it is used to pay for the rental, but my sister in law had to use her credit card as it was now her rental and she also had to put a $400 security deposit down in addition to the cost of the rental up front. Thankfully she was willing to do this for us and save a pile of time and inconvenience of going the 2 hours round trip to get my passport. The manager did give us an upgrade to a small SUV which was nice. Needless to say I was royally pissed off at the overall experience with Enterprise. If you documents say you only need your drivers licence, then your employees should honour that! If not then change your documentation.
