Was getting really nervous when my car didn’t start the other day. No click. Just dead. I had bought the battery 10/25, so it certainly shouldn’t be that… jumped it and a couple days later, wouldn’t start again. Took it to auto zone (that’s where I got the battery from), and they said the battery was just fine. Robin, at auto zone, suggested I take it to the Brakes Plus next door. Honestly… I didn’t want to. I have been burned by so many mechanics over the years, and really wasn’t looking forward to finding out how much was “wrong” with my car. But. We went.
Walked in and the lady at the desk was very nice. Took my info, asked some more detailed questions about what was going on, and said they’d take a look at it. Maybe 15 minutes later, she said everything looks fine, but they suggest. $15 more thorough diagnostic to start checking the alternator and starter… I agreed… panicking…
We waited. Watched some nature show in the tv. I actually appreciated that, until the sharks started eating my the baby seals, but I can’t blame nature on brakes plus.
We waited another 15 minutes, and all of a sudden I see my little red Rogue pull up to the front door. Then Chris (the general manager), steps behind the counter and showed me a rusty, sad battery terminal connector. He said he just happened to have one and it solved the problem. WHAAAATTTTT?????
The honesty blew me away. Too many times I’ve had things repaired that didn’t need to be. Less than and hour and less than $30 later and my day was a lot brighter.
I’ve been avoiding fixing some minor things on my car (door actuator going out, etc), simply because I didn’t have an honest place I felt I could take her. But I believe I do now!
