  Reserved a pickup truck with National, showed up to pick it up, and they gave us a Mitsubishi SUV instead even though they had a truck sitting there available. We specifically reserved a pickup because that’s what we needed. Manager Anthony was very unprofessional and completely unwilling to help or work with us. Pretty frustrating experience and definitely not what you expect after making a reservation in advance.

  True to form, National wowed me. In fact, as I pulled into the return lot at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport with my family, I remarked to them, "Watch how seamless this is going to be. Every time I come I'm greeted by a professional who is clearly well trained. And the entire process will only take us a minute or three. Sure enough, after a friendly chat and quick check out, we were off to the terminal train. It was perfection.

  If not for the friendly service, this location would have received one star. Unlike the majority of airports I visit yearly, this airport requires you to stand in line at the service desk prior to entering the garage area. Forget convenience if you are executive aisle. After waiting at the desk, I was directed to the garage where I was greeted and then “got in line” behind five others to stand and wait for a car. As I drove away, the line had somehow doubled. Why even take reservations if you intend to run a business like a circus? There is no executive aisle for you to choose from, so you wait and wait. And when you finally get the suv you reserved on line, it is trickery. The “suv” was the size of a golf cart. No bells and whistles here. Even the drivers side floor carpet was tore down to the metal. It dinged the entire rental period begging me to add wiper fluid. It jerked hard taking off at lights. And, I thought for sure I would lose my life trying to accelerate, whilst the car barely puttered itself onto the interstate. At one point I dropped the keys between the driver side seat and console when entering so I had to put my hand in there to retrieve them. That was a nauseating experience as my hand returned holding fries and smeared with a foreign substance. I can honestly say that over the years I have traveled to El Paso, two things never change, horrible car rentals and rundown hotels. UPDATE your fleet El Paso!
