We purchased our 2025 GMC Yukon Denali (six-figure vehicle) from Bert Ogden Buick GMC in Edinburg in November 2024. We had originally hoped to purchase a Yukon Denali Ultimate, but they did not have one in stock, so we ultimately purchased the Denali they had available.
I want to start by saying that our salesperson, Mike, was great. He was helpful and professional, and our initial experience with him was good.
The problems started when we got to the finance department.
Mike had quoted us a payment of approximately $1,600 a month. I was hesitant, but I was willing to move forward at that amount. Once we got into the finance office, however, the payment was increased to around $2,000 a month.
The finance person actually told us, and I quote, “What’s $2,000 for you guys?”
My response was that he didn't know what our expenses were and that it wasn't his place to determine what $2,000 meant to us. He had mentioned that my husband brought home approximately $14k a month, while I was making around $6k a month. A $2,000 vehicle payment isn't simply $2,000; we would also have insurance and all of our other household expenses.
I'm an accountant. I understand numbers and what a monthly payment means to a household budget, but that shouldn't have been his concern.
At that point, I had decided I was not going to purchase the Yukon. The finance person walked out and sent in a woman who explained the additional “perks” being offered. Ultimately, those perks are what changed my mind.
One of those perks was windshield repair and replacement coverage, which we were told was unlimited. We never abused that coverage or took advantage of it. We were told that if we had something repaired, replaced, or serviced elsewhere, we would have to pay $100, but if we brought it back to Bert Ogden or One Stop, it would be covered. Based on that explanation, I agreed to purchase the additional coverage and move forward with the Yukon.
A few weeks after purchasing the Yukon, we discovered that the windshield had not been installed correctly. When it rained, we had a huge puddle on the driver's side. Chris, the service manager, handled that situation very well. He corrected the issue at no charge and provided us with a loaner vehicle. I appreciated how that was handled.
Fast forward to October 2026. We needed to replace our windshield again because a rock caused a huge crack. We were then told at One Stop that the windshield coverage was limited to $500, while the actual replacement cost was close to $900.
That was not how the coverage was explained to us when we purchased it.
I called the finance department because I wanted to understand what happened and hoped they could help resolve the issue. Instead, the finance manager essentially told me, “I don't know why they told you that,” and ended the conversation.
That response was extremely disappointing. I would expect the finance department to investigate what happened and try to help resolve the issue, especially since I had originally backed out of the purchase and the additional perks were a significant factor in my decision to move forward.
What makes this even more disappointing is that my husband, had been planning to purchase a nearly $90,000 GMC Sierra Denali from Bert Ogden for work. The Yukon is what we used for our personal driving, while the Sierra would have been for his work.
After this experience, I told him, “Heck no! He can keep the Yukon, and I’m going back to Lexus, where the service when we purchased our sedan was and has been awesome!”
When you're making a major purchase, you should be able to trust that the numbers you're given and the products being sold to you are accurately explained. You should also be treated with respect.
My concerns are specifically with the finance department, the way the purchase was handled, how the additional coverage was explained, and how the situation was handled when I later tried to get answers.
Unfortunately, that experience has affected our trust in the dealership.

Honestly, I had a great experience at Bert Ogden Buick GMC, and I gotta give a huge shoutout to Tony Salinas. I just got my 2026 Buick Envista, and this was a pretty big deal for me because it was my first “big boy” purchase completely on my own 😂🔥.
Tony was cool as hell from the beginning. He was super patient with me, answered all my questions, and never made me feel pressured or rushed. I definitely had a lot of questions and probably overthought some things 😂, but he made the whole process way easier and more comfortable than I expected.
I’m genuinely extremely happy with my Envista and really appreciate Tony for making my first big purchase on my own such a positive experience. He went above and beyond, and I could tell he actually cared about making sure I was comfortable with everything before leaving.
If you’re looking for a vehicle, definitely ask for Tony Salinas. He’ll take care of you! 🙌🏼🔥
