  1 Star This was the single worst retail customer service experience I have ever had. On Memorial Day, I ordered a car battery through AutoZone's same-day delivery service from the Columbia Avenue location in Dallas. I ordered directly through AutoZone's app and website because my vehicle would not start and I had no reliable way to get to the store. I spent four hours sitting in my living room waiting for the delivery. I had the tracking information open the entire time. Then, without a phone call, text message, knock on the door, or any attempt whatsoever to contact me, the order was suddenly canceled. I immediately called customer service. The first representative could not explain why the order was canceled. I asked for a supervisor. The supervisor also could not explain why the order was canceled or why the battery could not simply be redelivered. No one took ownership of the problem. No one offered a solution. Because I still needed a battery, I walked to the store in the rain. Once there, I discovered that the battery I had originally ordered was not even the correct battery for my vehicle. Ironically, if AutoZone had successfully completed the delivery I paid for, I would have discovered that mistake from home instead of after spending hours waiting and then walking to the store. The experience somehow got worse. Instead of handling the transaction as a simple exchange, the store processed a refund and then attempted to charge me separately for the correct battery. Only after my card was declined was I informed that refunds can take 3-5 business days to process. In other words, the money from my original purchase was tied up, I couldn't access it immediately, and I was left standing in the store unable to buy the battery I actually needed. So after waiting four hours, receiving no delivery, getting no meaningful assistance from customer service, walking to the store in the rain, and spending additional time dealing with a preventable transaction issue, I left without a battery. This wasn't one mistake. It was a chain of failures involving AutoZone's delivery system, customer service department, and store-level transaction handling. At every step there was a lack of communication, accountability, and common sense. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience earned every star it didn't receive. Avoid AutoZone's same-day delivery service if your vehicle is disabled and you actually need the item delivered.
