  I drove my truck to the Auto Zone near me (in Corinth, Texas) because I thought my battery had died. It was a 3-year Duralast battery that I had bought from Auto Zone but the battery had lasted less that 3 years. I went into the store and asked the "Tech" named Chris to test my battery. Chris tested it and said the battery was bad. I was not surprised. I told Chris that this was a battery with a 3-year warranty and gave him my receipt that showed the battery was 2 years and 2 months old. The receipt also showed my name, the battery I purchased, the store where I bought it, and the date I bought it. Everything indicated that I was the guy who bought a battery, at that store, that was still within the 3-year replacement warranty. Chris said it would not be a problem and he said he would be able to see a record of the purchase and the warranty on his system (the Auto Zone app that they use in the store). The only problem was... there was no record of my purchase of the battery and, therefore, no record of my warranty. Hmmm. Trouble. Chris and I, very politely and professionally, went back and forth about the transaction number, the credit card used, my phone number (had my phone number changed?), and did I purchase it at this store. I even logged into my credit card account and showed Chris the transaction that showed Auto Zone charged the exact amount on the specific date to my credit card. All my records looked in order, but the Auto Zone system could not find any record of the transaction. Then Chris asked for help from Tracy who I think was the store manager. Tracy and I went through all the same stuff that Chris and I had looked at and, with justifiable care and scrutiny, Tracy looked at all my records of the transaction. Same result. Trouble. Then Tracy made the executive decision to solve the problem. She apologized many times for the confusion and the delay. She put together a transaction that, in effect, got me a replacement battery (with a new 3-year warranty) for free. Tracy said that it was her goal to make things right for me, the customer. And, for some reason, this arrangement required that Chris install the battery in my truck. That was perfectly fine with me. It saved me a round trip home and back to the store and saved the the effort of installing the battery myself. Chris did a perfect job of installing the new battery and I got a new battery under warranty in spite of the confusion and the missing records. Great job and great customer service all around from Chris and Tracy! Many thanks to them and to Auto Zone.
