  Texas summers last approximately eight months and feel like we’re all swinging from the sizzling hinges of the gates of hell. And yet, Texans aren’t leaving. Why? Because if we leave Texas, we lose H‑E‑B, and honestly, some sacrifices are simply too great. Somewhere between the hot homemade tortillas, the fresh in-house pico de gallo and guacamole, and a produce section that makes you briefly believe you’re the kind of person who meal-preps, H‑E‑B became far more than a grocery store. It became part of our identity. The kombucha selection is unmatched. The bulk health-food aisle makes me feel responsible. Then there’s an entire wonderland of organic, healthy, feel-good bougie things I didn’t know existed…but suddenly absolutely require. And the cosmetics aisle? Better than stores whose entire job is literally selling cosmetics. Then suddenly you stumble upon a tiny little gourmet chef stand in the middle of the fresh seafood - oh, let’s not forget that when you buy fresh gulf shrimp ON SALE they’ll boil it for you and ask you which seasoning you prefer AT NO EXTRA CHARGE…while you’re still asking how, there’s a chef whipping up something spectacular to your left and offering it to you FOR FREE. It’s like a free amusement park that happens to be where you gotta be on a Tuesday evening cause otherwise you’ll starve and you’re outta tampons. But we have to talk about the employees, because they are exceptional. Exceptional. H‑E‑B’s culture of excellence is personified by its people. From the top tier of leadership all the way down to the young employees gathering carts from a parking lot that feels approximately seven degrees cooler than the surface of the sun, they are top-notch. Helpful, kind, hardworking, knowledgeable, and consistently excellent. You don’t build that kind of culture accidentally❣️and it shows in every single department. Everything about H‑E‑B is spectacular. Everything. The food, the variety, the quality, the people, the service, the Texas pride, and the strange emotional attachment we’ve all developed to a grocery store. You can raise the temperature. You can increase the humidity. You can let the mosquitoes grow large enough to carry off a toddler. I’m still not leaving Texas, because H‑E‑B is here. Five stars. Across the board. Forever. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
