- BNBriana NOct 7, 20265.0First time I've been to an advance auto parts and i cannot emphasize how THANKFUL i am of Brittney who answered the phone in a desperate time of need. It was 9pm(closing) and i was stranded on 45 south with a dead battery. I was up and about trying to solve my problem until i was told by another shop that my battery was dead about 1 minute before closing close to 9pm. I called and Brittney answer and i explained the problem and within 7 minutes she waited for me to be able to purchase the exact battery in my car as well as explained the next steps to ensure my car is fully set to drive even with the new battery. Thanks to her kindess i was able to get off of the freeway and get home safely. I will be going to the mechanic tomorrow thanks to her valuable Intel.

- JJJackMay 30, 20263.0Please tell your employees not to tack on a item we didn't ask for and without asking. Went into the store buy turn singal bulbs. The employee helped me find the right bulbs for my car. Experience was great, until er get to the checkout counter. He proceeds to add in a $1.99 pack of lube i did not ask for on top of that charging me for it. Over all experience was ok but when he tried to add something onto the transaction without asking is what made the experience horrible.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
