I was born and raised up in Texas. Since my youngest years I honestly don't remember a time when H.E.B. wasn't down the road with all our grocery needs. In that spirit, it's been less like a store and more like extended family. Many of my brood were employed there for a spell... myself included.
When they started selling fuel ⛽️, I knew safety was of course going to be solid... and it is. In traditional HEB fashion, they're frequently competitive on market pricing, and I used to not even check competitors. Lately I've noted that they infrequently fall short, albeit typically not more than a dime a gallon, but for someone living on rideshare salary in my old age it really matters. Also, when you swipe-tap to pay for gas they rack up a $100 burden upon your pay card. It's temporary of course, but that's no good if you stopped to gas up before picking up fast food on your way home and they have inadvertently tanked your pay card.
So long and short, I'll no longer be getting my fuel ⛽️ at HEB, but for groceries they are still my main store. My nephew used to manage an outlet and he said do what you need to. So sayeth we all. Thought I was done, but google just reported their gas price at $3.64, but at the pump its $3.99... I can blame the administration for current pricing, but the misreporting through apps and information systems... that $0.35 / gallon error is on the actual stores... RIGHT, H.E.B.?
