  The big sign on the front of the store tells me what I need to buy to get this deal. It is matched by another, much smaller tag on the back shelf in the store by the motor oil. Yet, when the clerk rings up my purchase of a 5 quart jug of Mobile 1 synthetic oil and an STP extended life filter the price is nearly double. I ask about the sale sign outside and I'm told that I actually have to by a Mobile 1 oil filter to get that deal, but sadly no Mobile filter is available. I walked outside to re-read the sale sign, and it says exactly what it says (see photo). I couldn't let it go, so I asked if someone could come outside and read the sign with me and tell me what I misunderstood. We all read the same sign, and the manager told me that I would now have to buy the exact Mobile 1 oil in the sign (no more mention of the filter). I actually had to read the word A N Y, in reference to the oil, and show him the STP filter in the picture (with words) so that he could understand what it said. We walked back in and I pointed out the 5 quart jug of Mobile 1 synthetic oil and STP extended life filter. After much typing away at the keyboard, the manager said he would override the oil price and just give me the filter. Why was this hard? What does it say that the big sign on the front of the store says one thing and I have to argue, using visual aids, to get that deal ? WHY ?
