  We had such an easy, great experience purchasing a used car from Volvo Cars of Austin. Arthur was friendly and helpful and the purchasing process went fast and smooth!

  The salesmen and staff really love their Volvo vehicles so much so that they will do everything they can to not sell you one and keep them there. I should have known this was not the place for me when I was completely ghosted by the salesman. Yup, you may even say I was left on "read". Anyway, you can literally walk in there and tell them "I am here to buy a Volvo" and they will do the absolute bare minimum to get you the vehicle information. After you walk out because of said bare minimum, they will call you and say with the outmost audacity "wElL I diDnT knOW you waNteD to bUy a vOlVO..." Oh, and if you so happen to bring your dog with you they will most definitely blame your pup for not selling you a Volvo... I wish I was making this up because I really wanted to buy a Volvo but apparently it's Fido's fault that Volvo Cars of Austin didn't sell me one. (I am totally kidding with this last part, he is a very good boy unlike the salesmen and staff at this dealership.) I am dead serious, this did happened.

  We leased then purchased a new 2019 xc60 and a new 2022 xc90 from this location. Apparently that’s not loyal enough for a goodwill repair or even partial. They argue since it wasn’t serviced last few years with Volvo we aren’t loyal, we in fact lived hours from a Volvo dealership up until recently when we moved back to Austin. Our xc60 had the evaporator go out at 60k miles. Volvo knows this is an issue with this model that’s why they issued the technical journal and added the adapter. Volvo states that it’s not a safety issue, well temps of 120 degrees going down the road in a vehicle is. Children, animals and elderly can’t ride in the vehicle even short distances past noon in Texas heat. Anyone would agree a maintained car with such low mileage shouldn’t have major issues. Volvo prides themselves on reliability and safety but a car with 60k miles needing such a major repair is alarming, heat stroke might not be common in Sweden but very much is in Texas. I called trying to get a loaner atleast since I was in the process of moving across the state, absolutely no regard for my health or safety forcing me to drive the car in extreme heat. The girl who always answers the call for service is incredibly rude. I had plans to trade this car in within a year or so for a new xc60 or xc90 in the exact trim and upgrades I wanted but I’m questioning if I should invest in Volvo or Volvo dealers since they aren’t backing their product or caring for safety of those driving them.

  I bought a brand new car off the showroom floor last year and have had the worst service since. My AC went out and the service took a few weeks. The service staff was very rude when scheduling and could not guarantee a loaner. I just got the car back 2 weeks ago and now the same problem is occurring. Scheduling staff is again very rude, and would not immediately schedule a service date for me. I also cannot get in touch with an actual person I can speak to about this issue and I am again not guaranteed a rental car. This is the work experience I have had with a dealership, especially after purchasing a brand new $85K car.

  I had a great experience working with Thayne Dettmann. He was straightforward, professional, and easy to work with. He communicated by email as requested, respected my time, and never hassled me. Would highly recommend if you are looking for an honest, no-pressure approach.
