  As an Executive Emerald Club member who rents vehicles frequently across the country, my experience at the Austin, Texas location was a major letdown. While the cars in the Executive area are generally brand new, that is about the only positive thing I can say. Every single time I rent in my hometown, the Executive aisle completely lacks premium vehicles. During my rental a few days ago, I was hosting out-of-town business colleagues and specifically hoped to secure a luxury vehicle to show them around. To my utter surprise, there were no luxury options available and bizarrely, the standard Emerald Aisle actually had a better selection of cars than the Executive area. To top it off, the exit process was a complete bottleneck. A customer ahead of me ran into issues at checkout, which caused a gridlock that required the six cars behind him including mine to reverse out multiple times just to clear the lane. The exit delay alone took about 45 minutes. National usually delivers a much smoother, higher-tier experience for its executive members, but this Austin location consistently misses the mark on fleet selection and exit logistics.

  National's Emerald Aisle make the car rental experience smooth and fairly seamless. Unlike the competition, I reserve a mid-size car via the APP and I can literally bypass the rental counter, walk through the Emerald Aisle and select any mid-size vehicle (including trucks and SUVs) without the usual wait. You exit via their kiosk and they have all of the paperwork already taken care of. You can opt to prepay gas as well. Just like that you are on your way, EASY-PEACY!

  Not only is it impossible to get through on the phone, but it disconnects after having you wait on hold for five minutes. If management is reading this, please clarify availability of after-hours drop-off.
