  I recently brought in my 12 yr old Prius as the radiator fan would not turn off and drained the battery. I thought this was the end of the road for my car. I was not going to pay thousands to fix a car not worth more than $5K. Fortunately, the thorough mechanics at Dave's were able to determine the battery was still under warranty - an expensive replacement if I had to pay out of pocket. They did the repairs and other much needed maintenance at a VERY reasonable cost! I am so grateful to the mechanics at Dave's who have helped keep my old car running. When I first moved to Austin I went to Auto Nation - Toyota Dealership in Austin to get my A/C fixed. They had given me an estimate to fix my A/C and some other repairs for an estimate of over $10,000. I told them not to do anything and took the car to Dave's. That was 4 years ago and they have been my TRUSTED mechanic ever since.

  Daves Ultimate Automotive is what all vehicle repair shops wish they could be. Cant express the overall ease of communication for making an appointment, updates and overall repair breakdown options. Upon going through a diagnostic rundown of my car they looked over every square inch of my engine/vehicle to not only give me what they think should be done sooner than later but ultimately everything they recommend to prolong the life of my car and keep it running for miles and miles to come. They emailed me a full diagnostic breakdown of both options as well. My overall experience with Daves was smooth, easy and honestly reassuring that quality work was being done. Highly recommend with out a doubt!

  Honest people, high integrity, excellent quality work. We had an unfortunate miscommunication that had some real cost, and these guys were honest enough to deal with it on their side without complaint. That's how you know you've got an honest mechanic.

  I had my car towed here after it broke down on the highway. It was my first time going through a situation like this and Daniel was such an incredible help and extremely thorough during the entire process. I definitely recommend this place. As far as price, it’s very realistic and affordable and I’m beyond thankful.

  Dave's ultimate rip off - I brought my Tacoma in for an intermittent stalling issue and ended up wasting time and $143 on a “diagnosis” that didn’t diagnose anything. I told the clerk, Joe, repeatedly that the symptoms pointed to the Idle Air Control valve, and they completely ignored that. They couldn’t reproduce the stall, didn’t check the IAC, and instead latched onto an old EGR code I’ve been driving with forever with zero issues. Their big solution? A $2,500 EGR repair that didn’t match the symptoms at all. It felt like they didn’t want to actually troubleshoot the problem — just push the most expensive repair they could justify. I walked out and took my truck somewhere else because I’m not paying thousands of dollars for guesswork. This shop wasted my time, wasted my money, and didn’t listen to a single thing I said. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone who wants real diagnostic work instead of upsells.
