I recently moved to Amarillo and gave Tommy’s Express another chance after years of experiencing spotting issues whenever I visited family here. Unfortunately, nothing has changed.
I was paying over $80 per month for two vehicles and routinely had to spend 15–20 minutes wiping water spots off my vehicles after a wash. On a recent visit when temperatures were over 100 degrees, I spent more time cleaning my truck after the wash than the wash itself.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I was told by an employee that if the system is not properly reset, the wash runs on city water. Unfortunately, it seems like every time I visited, I was the one getting the “city water” wash. The result was the same: excessive spotting, poor drying, and having to spend additional time cleaning my vehicle by hand after paying for a premium wash membership. Customers should not have to wonder whether they are getting the wash quality they are paying for depending on whether equipment has been properly reset.
What finally ended my business with Tommy’s was the customer service. My membership was fully paid through June 27, yet I was told at the gate that my membership was inactive. Even after acknowledging that my account was paid through June 27, the employee continued to argue with me and initially denied service. It was only after I started backing away that I was suddenly told I could go through.
I had just returned from a VA appointment and did not need to be argued with over a membership that was clearly active and paid for. As a 100% disabled combat veteran, I expect the same professionalism and respect as any other customer. Instead, I was treated like I was trying to get something for free when I had already paid for the service.
To make matters worse, the company did not attempt to address the issue until after I was already across town. A phone call afterward does not change what happened at the wash or how I was treated in the moment.
Poor wash quality, recurring spotting issues, inconsistent results, and disappointing customer service. After years of giving this location chances, I cancelled my membership and will be taking my business elsewhere.
