- JJJamesOct 2, 20265.0John was the best to work with when it came to my truck and differentiating rather it’d be the battery or alternator since it was jumping back and fourth on reading. He charged my battery and was very professional!
- RRRhonnie Robins-SmithAug 27, 20265.0Love this place! I was on a road trip from OR to FL. My dashboard indicated I needed to check the rear L turn signal. Ken Michalak was so kind to replace it for me. I'm a 70 yr old female traveling alone. What a stand up guy. Thank you Advance-Auto.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?
Expand FAQ item
Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
