- LSLayne SacharinMay 5, 20265.0I was just leaving Wendy's on Summer Ave this evening around 5:30. It was rush hour & it was starting to rain again after storming all day earlier. I turned on my wipers & noticed what looked like a long black worm going back & forth across the passenger side of my windshield. While I was directly across Summer Ave from the bigger auto parts store, I find it easier to shop at Advance Auto Parts, so I turned right & headed for the next block. Lady cashier found me a wiper for my passenger side. We both thought I only needed one. Another female employee came out to install the single wiper & we found my other wiper was not just bad---it was pretty much GONE. So we went back inside & I purchased a second one & the young woman installed that one as well. I'm pleased that the two ladies were able to take care of my needs, even going out in the rain to check my wipers & then install the replacements. The bigger auto parts store always has a line of customers waiting to get parts & when you're older the standing in line is difficult. So I generally prefer Advance Auto Parts because it's quicker & easier for me. When I headed home, I could actually SEE out my windshield because I finally had functioning wipers.

Yes we do offer free battery installation on most products with purchase. We will also recycle and test your battery for free regardless if you bought it from us. Battery testing and installation is available at most of our locations.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
