Ignition interlock device installations usually take 1-2 hours at your local Official Intoxalock Location, depending on the make and model of your vehicle. You can either wait for the installation to be complete in a waiting area or can drop off your vehicle for pick-up later.

Depending on which state you live in, you will need to have your device calibrated every 30 to 180 days. These calibrations make sure your device accurately reads and records your breath alcohol concentration with every sample you provide.

Removing your ignition interlock or breathalyzer device is easy. Your installer will remove the device and will mail it back to Intoxalock for you. It's important that only your Official Intoxalock installer disconnect your ignition interlock device.

not radio clinic i’m referring to the company who referred me there aka INTOXALOCK. WORST COMPANY EVER! they reached out to me and scammed me into thinking i needed this interlock device when i actually don’t. the TN DMV said it was clearly a scam seeing as how THEY called me. DELVIN told me over and over that i needed it then sent me over to radio clinic to pay $200 then when i finished i was being scammed i called back and all the representatives including the “supervisor” carla literally laughed in my face and basically told me had i been more careful this wouldn’t have happened! i asked for her supervisor in which she told me she was the highest there and did not have a supervisor or an HR department like WHAT? they refused to refund me and also refused to pay the $75 i have to pay to get this useless device removed. the customer service is terrible do not mess with this company if i could give them 0 stars i would RADIO CLINIC HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT WONDERFUL

Complete scam. I've been stuck with this thing for almost 2 years because their systems went down or I had bad readings. "Customer service" is a joke.

Why do you continue my services AFTER I was passex in the timeframe set by the court. For financial reasons... I had to keep paying rent, rather than removal. You have, twuce, since then, held me in uncompliance...and forced me to extend my service.... 2 YEARS past my time, and after my first compliance letter. Im going to sue you over this. This company is a complete fraud!

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
