Hi-Tech has been to me like a house of horrors in a scary movie where normal people take their car and they are threatened and strongarmed and their life is impacted in a traumatic negative way. Brought my 2013 Ford Escape here for a $600 diagnostic to see what was wrong with the transmission, and the quote was ~$6000 (supposedly parts only/no labor) to rebuild it and "new torque converter and rebuild oil cooler", so I wanted to take my car elsewhere but Jason demanded $3300 in "reassembly" before he would give me my car back so I could tow it home or somewhere else. I even brought the police demanding my vehicle back and offering to pay ~$900 (he had added ~$250 in extra charges) to pick up the pieces and have them towed, but he wouldn't give my broken car back for less than $3300 and threatened a mechanics lien and $30/day charge for storage until repaired or removed. Rather than paying $3300 to get my broken vehicle back to tow it somewhere else, I paid them $7200 to "rebuild the transmission, new torque converter and rebuild oil cooler", even though I would have rather put that much money into a newer vehicle instead of my 2013. So I was basically forced to either pay $3300 to get my broken vehicle back to tow elsewhere, or pay $7200 for the repairs he said were needed ("transmission rebuild, new torque converter, and rebuild oil cooler"). Also, the paperwork claims ~$6000 in parts and only ~$600 in labor which is crazy if you know vehicle repair costs. And, there is no breakdown for what makes up the alleged $5896 in parts to rebuild my transmission, new torque converter, and rebuild oil cooler. But if you Google those rebuild kits & parts it's hard to come up with that much. HiTech has 15 other negative Google reviews and 5 Better Business Bureau complaints with similar stories to mine (and multiple alleging scam), but their negative Google reviews are pretty covered-up because the HiTech lady pushes a lot (on multiple visits) for an on-the-spot positive Google review and offered to give me something (a gift card?) if I left a positive review. Jason boasted on multiple occasions about bringing in $2 million a year and how rare & specialized transmission rebuild shops are, and that so many of his friends are attorneys and 25 follow him on Facebook. My transmission has been working well again the past 3 weeks, but again I was strong-armed into putting ~$7200 into repairing my 2013 vehicle with 190,000 miles when I would have preferred to put that much money into a newer vehicle. And unfortunately I now have a new rattle noise (loose component) under the hood that Jason was unable to locate & reattach/repair.

Worst vehicle service in this shop I experienced since decades. They promised getting done my car’s transmission within 1 or 2 weeks. Took my cash over $900 as labor service for that. Half month passed after I visited them twice and call them once, the answer was always unsure. They did not say “we’re busy” in advance. After they got my money, things became like a fraud. Today, they let me take back car which was not start to work on it anymore and not to return my down payment. Even police cannot pursue this kind of cheating shop.

Recently dropped my truck off with this place when I broke down in Chattanooga. They wouldn't give me an estimate on a full rebuild, they just kept telling me that they would have to inspect. Their site says free diagnostic testing, which is a lie (over $200). They then suggested an rdi in which they removed the transmission and took it apart ($1195 process). That did not include the reinstall although they had said the labor was paid for on the rebuild and reinstall had i paid the $11,000+ to rebuild the transmission. As a service disabled marine corps veteran and a SDVOSB business owner, I was extremely disappointed when I had to pay an additional $700 for a wrecker to pick up my disassembled truck that I had driven into this business. I lost thousands of dollars while the truck was down as i use it for my business. While I was hoping that the business was ethical, I quickly learned how badly they were taking advantage of the situation. I honestly expected more from a company that claims to give military and veteran discounts. To add insult to injury, I was asked to bring 3 totes to load all the parts of my truck. They only needed 2 and asked if I would sell them the third since they needed one and it would save them a trip to go buy one. Worst experience with a mechanic I've had and definitely shows why people do not have trust in mechanics anymore. Left paying $1524 for them to make a running vehicle non-drivable although I was told that they would put it back together for an additional $2,000. Truly disgusted.
