- JJJayApr 13, 20261.0Bought a part that became defective worth less than 2 months of use. The part had a 1yr warranty and 45 day return policy. The store manager "Jackie" became defensive on why it was being returned and claimed "wear and tear". With 2 months use??? Anyways she refused to help, definitely never buying from advanced auto

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
