I have done business with this company and service center for about 5 years. Things have always gone well until Friday 6/12/26. I bought a new car and had the device installation done. First, I was scheduled from 9-11am, showed up just before 9. The actual install was completed about 230pm.I had extreme diffculty getting the car to start just to leave and even more driving home. I called to inform them. I then watched everything get even wore yesterday. While driving home alarms started going off, the horn blowing, lights flashing etc. Now, I desperately need my car repaired tomorrow as it was working perfectly and all of these issues are related to this installation, nothing to do with my car. No reason that I should have to pay towing fees or get a rental car. This should certainly be their responsibility and it needs to be resolved immediately. In fact, look at the photo attached. It may all simply be because they did not calibrate it it. I know the camers was not tested as it was aimed across the dash and out the windshield not, towards the driver....

Something new hard to get use to at first and embarrassing in many ways to other people's eyes but it's your only transportation but in general it's helpful in your life to get you back and forth in life carefully

So no matter what I do. Intoxalock refuses to budge on anything to help me get my car fixed. A lot of mechanics simply cannot fix a car That they cannot crank up. Why can’t I take the wiring off until my car is fixed mom not breaking the law. I’m not driving because that is my only car. I am stuck and no one will help me what am I supposed to do.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
